Post Base Hanger is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 50.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for simple applications, not strength If you are looking for strength in a post, pay 4x the price and get a much thicker bracket that has 4 vertical sides instead of two. Great for setting up a post on top of wood, but only if additional supports/joists/stringers/handrails are in place as well. Not very sturdy on its own.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Used for Handrail Posts on Concrete Overall product worked well. I also applied Extreme Exterior Construction Adhesive between the surface and the bracket as well as the bracket and post. For a project like mine where the post is not attached to anything at the top, it is absolutely critical that you have a very secure fit, possibly using a large washer; otherwise the post may not be as secure as you wish. I also decided to nest one bracket into the other to help provide just a little more support by having metal brackets on all 4 sides. Worked out very well for me. Attached is a picture just prior to painting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from wrong application Yep used them to set a post on a deck, if you use it make sure you know what it's for. I used them to stand a post up on a deck railing, had to nail the fire out of it and it really didn't like the way it held the post.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Good for Every Post Application I made the mistake of using this to anchor a wood post onto a poured concrete base using an L-shaped anchor bolt (L into the concrete and threaded end up into the bracket). The post was ~36inches high. There was too much deflection (~ 1/2 to 3/4 inch) at the top of the post when the post was pushed at the top. I later read that this isn't meant to be used for posts subject to side forces. Ended up installing a side brace to make the post solid. This product is kind of flimsy for what it costs. Also note that if you are going to use this for a post you have to make an allowance for any bolt that comes up from the bottom. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the post. You can also buy a spacer with a hole in it to set a post on but that limits you as far as securing the post through the sides of this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product Really came in handy for setting my corner posts in my greenhouse!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Who ever designed this mount must never have tried to secure this to concrete with Tap Con screws as they won't fit through the holes in the base. I had to drill all the holes with a larger drill, big enough for them to fit through. Good way to add cost to the job. I would tell a friend about needing to enlarge holes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They do what they were designed to do I would not recommend these outdoors where they might be saturated under water for any given time, but for dry areas, on top of concrete piers with adequate drainage, they work well. I used them this time for setting posts to support a mezzanine I built in my shop. Cut out a 12" square in the floor, poured a footing, set this post base in place and anchored it to the wet concrete - done. I did not see a need for an elevated base to keep the post dry because I keep water out of the shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supports for shed I'm using these to support a shed that I'm building. They are just the thing to hold the outer posts on the existing concrete. Just what's needed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
