The measurement between the two wall mount holes is 12".  This is a wonderful product and you will not be disappointed.  We purchased it in the Fall of 2018 and are very pleased. It is well made, sturdy and classy appearance compared to the cheaper mailboxes on the market.

Is there an opening between the lid and the box which can allow melting snow from the brick fascia of the house to run in? Are the spaces between the bottom of the box and the sides of the box or is there a gap? Sick of reading a wet newspaper! Thanks.

There is a very small gap between the box and the lid. About 3/16''. Rain and melting snow won't come inside the box. This is our best-selling mailbox. I'm sure you will like it. Thank you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Iknow from Great looking mailbox I bought this today (in black) to complete the new house/street numbers and new outside lantern (all bought at Lowe's). So after mounting the other two, I thought this would be a 10 minute job; wrong! I used the template on the box, marked the bricks, checked for level - several times, then drilled holes, put in plugs and mounted the mailbox - CROOKED!! Now needed to drill two new holes; so go through the process again, this time however, I put the mailbox up to match the pencil marks, put a level on top of the mailbox- not level! Only one explanation- the holes in the mailbox aren't aligned horizontally. I think from the attached photo, you can actually see this.

My brick wall is very old and I destroyed three masonry bits trying to drill into it. Maybe old brick is very hard? Anyway, I ended up using metal brick clips. They were easy to install, do an excellent job and very difficult to remove once installed.
