Asked by: G sin

What is the length of the ratchet or the handel. Looking for something longer for some extra leverage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but not perfect. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my main ratchet for awhile. Worked great untill the switch going from tighten to loosen would get jammed. Then later would get this weird inner shifting feeling. I wish this was a serviceable ratchet, but when it worked is was awesome. Plan on replacing my old one. Perfect length for a 3/8 in my opionon as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great until it isn't The directional lever is plastic. I was unbolting a bumper on my jeep and I guess I pinched the lever and it broke off. Long gone are the steel levers on my original Craftsman ratchet. I give it a one because in the end I have to buy another ratchet and they are not refunding my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Ratchet, could be my go to. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Needed to get a ratchet in a pinch, and picked this one up. I am really impressed by the overall fit and finish. The switch is smooth, and does not get hung up on any change of direction. As a 120T ratchet, swing articulation is short, which is great in tough to reach areas. My only wish is that the head of this ratchet was a bit thinner, so it can fit into event tighter spaces, but, that is minor. This ratchet is becoming the one I reach for most often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for a reasonable price! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to replace several ratchets that I broke while working on my truck. I love the design of this ratchet and it is a huge asset to my tool box.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Strong Ratchet Good Value [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this 3/8” ratchet and immediately noticed the gun metal chrome. It is very well done throughout without any blemishes or any noticeable defects. I am impressed. It has kind of a smoke hue to it, not a bright shiny chrome as you normally see on any other ratchet. The next thing I noticed is the weight. This ratchet is really stout! It is heavy and very solid! I have many Craftsman ratchets. All kinds manufactured as far back as the 50’s and none are as heavy or seemingly strong built as this one. The handle is a little boxy but ergonomic and fits very well in the hand. It just feels really good in the hand and offers positive grip with the lines. I like this very much. The other thing I really like is that it is a 120 tooth ratchet. Clicks are strong and positive giving you the ability to turn a fastener in tight spaces. The head of the ratchet is about 1/8” thicker than the traditional Craftsman ratchets. The downside to this, I think, is getting in some tight spaces where height could be an issue. Now, one thing that really stood out to me is that this ratchet cannot be taken apart for maintenance cleaning or lubricating, unlike every other Craftsman ratchet I have ever owned. So, if it fails on you, you will have to return the entire ratchet for a whole new one. There is no repair kit that I can tell. At least Craftsman still offers the lifetime warranty, so that’s a good thing. Unlike other Craftsman ratchets, now currently manufactured in China, this one is manufactured in Taiwan. I personally prefer USA made above all else, but Taiwan really puts some pretty decent quality into their products. I immediately put this ratchet to the test by doing three different jobs with it. First I used it to replace an oil pan gasket. Not a challenging job, but it performed well. Then I moved on to a break job. Some of the nuts were really tight and uncooperative but this ratchet did the job. In one instance, however, I had to go to another ratchet because of the thickness of the head. Along with the socket I couldn’t get it to slip onto the bolt because of clearance. A thinner head ratchet fit (barely) where this one would not. Later I moved on to a rebuild on my trailer of 20 years. The bolts on this thing were rusted on and did not want to come off. I even used a 4 foot cheater bar (not recommended!) and put my full weight on it. The ratchet did not slip or fail but I couldn’t get the nuts to budge. Using the ratchet on the nut, I blasted the bolt with an impact wrench (rated at 1200 ft/lbs). I did twenty bolts and the ratchet performed. Several of the bolts or nuts split and failed, but the ratchet did its thing. So, in short my negatives are few and are: The ratchet cannot be taken apart for maintenance or lubing. The first thing I do with a ratchet I buy is lube it. Can’t do it here. And the head is a bit thick. Add a socket and you will likely have trouble where height is an issue because the head on this ratchet will add about 1/8” to the thickness. Doesn’t sound like much but believe me it can really make a difference at times. Other than that, not too many negatives. On the other hand, my positives are: This ratchet is very well made with decent quality, is very solid, fits well in my big hands, The chrome is well applied, performed well with the abuse I handed it, and I really like the 120 tooth which I believe gives you less than about a 3 degree swing, far better than the rest of the lesser tooth ratchets available from craftsman which I have measured to be as high as 10 to 13 degrees in some cases. I do recommend this ratchet. For the price point you can’t beat it. I hope to get a ¼” and a ½” gun metal ratchet to make it a set! For the beginner mechanic or DIY-er it is an excellent value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for tight access [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ratchet has quickly become my number one go-to for almost all of my socket requiring jobs. With 120 teeth it barely needs to turn for the gears to catch and move whatever bolt or nut I'm working with. Yet it's still strong enough not to strip any gears so far, and as I said, I'm using it constantly. No need to change to a ratchet with a lower tooth ratio just for torque, because this one can handle it all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ratchet [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 120 tooth and 3 deg arc make for a great yet affordable ratchet. I got the 3/8th due to it being the most practical size for my uses which are working on my vehicles and four wheeler as well as a few projects in the garage i pick up throughout the year. The ratchet comes in a gun metal chrome which looks great yet i feel like it shows use more than the typical stainless color tools. The feel of the handle in your hand is that its a beefy ratchet and can take years of beatings and still function like the day you buy it. The ease of installing and removing sockets is just right. Ive previously used kobalt ratchets and noticed that if i were to try to ratchet quickly that the directional lever would flip and id be doing the opposite of what i needed before i knew it. So far with this ratchet i have not had that problem. I definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice piece [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ive had my ratchet for a few weeks now, and i must say that it is a very nice one! The ultra fine teeth makes it great for areas limited with a short throw space. The long handle give plenty of torque, and the gunmetal chrome finish is beautiful! Useful eye-candy in the shop! Highly recommended tool!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great in tight spaces. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this ratchet about a week ago and have used it numerous times. It works very well in tight spaces where there’s not a lot of room to turn. A longer handle than previous models of craftsman ratchets. I am happy to add this to my extensive collection of craftsman tools!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super comfortable in your hand [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this tool just a few days ago and am already In love! It's my go to ratchet from here on out. Very strong and comfortable in the hand. Also fits into hard to reach places much easier than other ratchets I have used. Very pleased with this tool!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this about a month now and have used it 20 or 30 times. I have big hands and it's easy to hold onto, along with it being a comfortable feel in the hand. I love the smoked chrome look. And I'm really excited about having more tools in this style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable grip!!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ratchet is great for space limited space, while achieving great advancement in every 1/4 inch turn. Durability is ok , dropped the once and only a couple scratches endured. Sleek and durable design is a solid two thumbs up!!!! Way to go craftsman!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice ratchet [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very low swing arch, has not bound up on me yet. Gun metal chrome looks excellent and I feel craftsman is on the right path with this ratchet. The only downfall of this ratchet I could see is it looks like you can't take the head head apart to lube it.
Date published: 2018-12-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good upgrade for tight spaces. I haven’t used it for very long, but it seems to work well. The handling and feel is almost identical to my older 72-tooth ratchet, but the swing arc to the next tooth is much shorter. It should be good for tight spaces. The head is about the same size as my 72 ratchet also, which is nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ratchet [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This ratchet feels solid. Has an excellent finish. The gears feel sturdy, no slipping while tightening bolts. The 120 teeth make this ratchet ideal for tight spots. This ratchet should last me a lifetime just like my other craftsman tools.
Date published: 2018-12-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth ratcheting action [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had it for about two weeks now. The 120 teeth make it nice in tight places were there us not much of a swing. I would recommend this ratchet to hobbyists and professionals alike. It would be nice if it had a flexible head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool color, seems solid. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was Leary of the new craftsman tools - this seems to be a solid item. Seemingly high tooth count, plus it has a cool finish on it. I'm hoping it holds up for quite a while. No regrets on adding one to my box!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work horse [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tried and true. Never lets me down and operates smoothly as it should! I have had ratchets with less teeth in the past and you can feel the difference between the cheaper drives and this one. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as it should [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this for about 3-4 weeks now and it works as a ratchet should. It feels good iin my hand and I haven’t had any issues. I will likely be getting the 1/4 drive and the 1/2 drive as well. No issues

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I just bought the 1/4”, 3/8”. And 1/2” Drive 120T ratchets and love them. I used to use the Craftsman 84T Ratchet from sears but shelves it when I received these ratchets! I would recommend these new ratchets to any of mechanics.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adequate Prefer the ergonomic low profile ratchet made years ago in the United States. Fit comfortably in your palm as you are exerting pressure. No pain.
Date published: 2020-03-11
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ergonomic Feel This is actually a very good ratchet. It has a comfortable handle long enough to apply a lot of pressure when needed, and the 120-tooth design makes it decent in tight places by engaging with a short or limited swing.
