Rock-On screws are ideal if you are looking for an efficient fastening of cement boards (Hardie-Backer, Durock(R) or WonderBoard) and wood or lightweight steel studs. They feature a flat head with serrated contour for a firm, flush seating, which ensures a smooth, straight surface when installing tiling. The serrated thread and their sharp point allow quick installation and immediate pick up. Installation can be done with one hand using a drill/driver or a standard impact wrench, and the StikFit star drive featuring 6 points of contact (included). Each box contains 750 #10 x 1 1/4" screws.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dennis from Deceptive On Number of Sheets This Box Will Fasten The label states by the quantity of 750 screws on the front label that it will fasten at least 25 boards (with a single asterisk). This single asterisk states on the opposite label side: 3' X 5' cement board. In fact, a 1/4" 3' X 5' Hardiebacker cement board is marked for 58 screws, so this box of 750 screws will fasten less than 13 1/4" 3' X 5' Hardiebacker cement boards. There is also a double asterisk note on the back label that states Hardiebacker is a registered trademark. So you better double up on screws if you're using 1/4" Hardiebacker. The screws seem to work fine during installation, don't yet know about long term service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Thisguy from Expensive but great Putting a screw at each mark on a sheet of quarter inch hardy backer, means using 58 screws per sheet. But thats what I did because you surely can't go back and add screws after you tile! I understand that many contractors use roofing nails instead of screws, but I didn't want to take a chance of having any tiles pop. During my project, I used one box of "old style" backer-on" screws with the square head rather than the Torx head. They were a disaster. I broke several bits and spent twice as much time screwing them down. The star (Torx) head is a fantastic improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Greg from Star-Drive ftw These screws worked so much better than the square drive screws. Did not break any of these out of almost the whole box. Used the bit that was included. The square kind not only broke the screws but also the bit broke. The bottom of the screw has a pattern to it that helps countersink the screw. Way easier to sink to the proper depth. Great improvement to the product. Well worth the price. Was able to attach 8 sheets of hardibacker down with one box. Bought a box of the 1 5/8 for 1 sheet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MaineDIYer from Perfect screws for Hardie Backer board I installed 1/4” backer board over Warmboard radiant floor. These screws easily penetrated the backer board. The head of the screw bore a perfect tapered hole so that the screw ended up being flush with the top of the backer board without lumping like regular screws. Worth the money.
