What is best way to place stones so they fit together in the 10 square feet of area?

Asked by: Katewake
These stones are all shaped exactly the same, so it all depends on how you place them. I've made sidewalks out of them by placing two or more side by side in a line, and I'm building a patio. You can even make a sidewalk curve or bend a certain way. The one drawback is that they will not fit in a perfect square, you'd have ragged edges, but if you can live with that aspect then the area can look great. Of course, you can also cut them, but what's the point when you could also use other, straighter stones instead?

From your experience, how accurate is the chart above? According to the chart I would need 81 pieces to do 120 sq ft or 17,280 sq inches. One stone is 336 sq inches. If you do the math I should only need 51.4 (so 52) stones. 81 is a lot more than 52...

Asked by: Nicoliosis
Because these stones are such an odd shape, one stone is not 336 square inches. If it was a rectangle that math would be right. So the chart is probably trying to tell how many you need when you are fitting them together in the way the do fit together. We only used these stones as a path from front laneway to backyard, it is about 3 stones wide, and for this we are very happy with them. We weren't trying to fill a square patio or anything like that.

How many stones for 75 sq feet

Asked by: Joe baby
check to chart on this page. 20 sq ft = 14 stones. 50 sq ft = 34 stones. 5 sq ft should = 3 stones. Therefore add them up 75 sq ft = 51 stones.

Slab - Interlocking Patio Slab is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from beautiful I bought these last fall. My backyard garden area is very small. We removed all the sparse grass, and laid these stones down, leaving the raw edge all around the garden area, and planted up to it. It is beautiful. The stones are perfect. After a rain you can enjoy the yard again, within minutes. Easy to install (google the schematic), and well worth the effort. I will do my front walk way this year in exactly the same stone. My neighbours are envious of my beautiful backyard oasis.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy Very happy with these stones. We ordered these online and they came within a week. We bought the grey ones to do a little sitting area and path around the pool. They really are the next best thing to flagstone and easier to lay and not as expensive. You don't have to do a pattern but we did decide to follow the shaping of the stones and then put some paver's sand in between. They are also lighter compared to other patio stones the same size. I was going to attach some pics but they are too big to post apparantly...sorry.
