Thermacell mosquito protection is a portable product that keeps mosquitoes away and eliminates them in a space as large as 21 m² (4.5-meter radius). I have allergies to scents and didn’t want to put nasty chemicals like deet on my skin,so I suffered the mosquitos from May to the 2nd week in June. The mosquitos became more ravenous and seemed to get bigger in size, so I not a got a Thermacell. I can now bbq, relax, eat and drink outside without constantly swatting the mosquitos. It starting working within 5 minutes of starting it and there was not one mosquito on my patio. I love this thing and I tell everyone about it. In Northwestern Ontario, Canada our summers are short so thank you for making my time outside much more enjoyable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Love my Thermacell from I really love mine -- I have it 3 years now I received mine as a present from my son. It has been going strong for three years now and works great. Not sure where the bad reviews are coming from -- either they don't read instructions or are mistreating unit. I spend a lot of time sitting outside and I just sit mine out and start it and then go out in about 15 minutes and enjoy. I do carry mine in after use each time and do not leave it outside so it avoid the elements of sitting outside. I've bought these are gifts and was just on this site looking to buy again as a gift when I saw some reviews that I really disagree with. I'm not one to write many reviews but those triggered me to write.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SamAthome from Allows me to enjoy my patio We just moved to Florida and are waiting to have the back patio and pool screened in to keep the mosquitos away. We thought that we couldn't enjoy the patio / pool until then. The Patio Shield made the difference and allowed us to enjoy our patio / pool right away. We just set up the Patio Shield on our patio table near the pool, take a dip in the pool and when we get out don't have to worry about being bugged by those nasty flying blood suckers. We're so happy we got the patio shield - it works great, easy to use and re-use, lights the first time every time and there is just a faint smell - enough to let you know it's working.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ontheroad from Best solution found thus far We full time travel in an RV. Mosquitoes are a problem everywhere! We've used Thermacell's portable devices for some time, and still do. Dislike sprays and wipes, although you use them when needed. These... to date, we've not found a better option - they work. Our hope is that the Patio Shield casts a somewhat bigger coverage area than the portable. As we've only used it a few times thus far, that verdict is still out. Rarely give a 5 rating since there is always room for improvement. Nevertheless, the devices are our "go to" solution! (tip - instructions do not explicitly state it, but cover must be left off when in use!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by PJMAMA98 from Great coverage I was pleasantly surprised at how well this worked.We put it in our backyard on our deck and the kids were outside on the swing set and the adults were just sitting down by the fire pit talking. And normally we have a lot of problems with the mosquitoes due to living in South Georgia with lots of lakes around us. And we did not have issues with mosquitoes at all. My grandson and I are both mosquito magnets and get a lot of bites when we are outside but using the thermocell has definitely helped us to not be eaten up. I am thankful that we were able to use this without having to spray harmful chemicals on our body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Marcia from Genius Invention!!! We love living beside the woods, but the mosquitoes can be brutal making it difficult to sit outside in the evenings. After getting quotes for those roll down screens for our back patio ($9,000 to $15,000... uh, no thank you!) and not wanting to install permanent screens, I found this little device and it has been a life saver!!! We turn it on (it makes no sound, no smell, no flame) and in a few minutes the mosquitoes are gone and we can comfortably sit outside. We tested it in cottage country last week and found the same result. It would be a great gift for anyone who enjoys camping because it is so small and lightweight to pack. Two thumbs up for this genius invention!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by QueenB from Another winner for Thermacell I have the old patio lanterns and bought this recently. It looks much nicer on my patio table and is easier to operate as far as switching the butane cartridge and the ignition. On the old lantern, it was hard for some people to get their fingers in the slots to open the bottom to change the cartridge. This model is much easier as you unscrew the base. It works just as well as all Thermacell products I've tried which are the only things that keep the mosquitos off of me, except for spray-on repellant, which I'd rather not use constantly. I love the design and that there is a lid, so I can leave it outside even if its raining, which happens most afternoons in our part of Florida.

I was was really excited to give this a try(The 15ft zone) so that my youngest would be able to enjoy outside without getting but up as he is a bit allergic to mosquitoes and can't really enjoy without getting sprayed down, but It honestly did not work. Once we sat it nice and high, made sure it was lit and staying on and waited to see if it would work we did notice a slight decrease in them but they were still pretty much biting us and we were hoping for a mosquitoe free zone, we've only been able to try a few times due to weather but we will try once more and who knows maybe 3rd time is a charm :)
