I suddenly realized tonight that the pedestal fan I had was no longer blowing air further than about 6 inches in front of it! How is that even possible? I took it apart and discovered that the blades had lost their rigidity over time. They were like floppy dog ears and the centrifugal force of the fan spinning was just flattening them right out, with no depth. I needed a fan - tonight! I scoured the usual stores and read all of the reviews for the last few hours and finally settled on this one. There is a larger Utilitech (18-inch), but it has the same crappy 3 round plastic blades that lost their stiffness over time. This 16-inch version is a bit more expensive, but the 5-blades won me over. They are made of a much stiffer plastic design that is much thicker and deeper. I ran out and bought it about an hour ago. 10 minutes to put together - no tools are required. It comes with its own hand-crank base bolt and metal tightening knob to keep the base and top piece firmly snug. We turned it on and on the highest speed setting (12), a breeze could be felt 15-20 feet in front of it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Verni from Motor does not run Purchase fan today 15 July 2020 at Lowe’s Iwilei store (Honolulu,HI) after doing research and read some of the reviews I decided to purchase this product. I followed the instructions and pieced every part together, everything turns on but the motor does run the fan. I checked the fuse and there is a fuse inserted, still the motor does not run.

We were going to use it for the bedroom for air circulation, which we like even in the winter time, but now will retire it to the living room after it becomes spring and we can find fans in the stores again. We also wish it tilted up higher towards the ceiling, but that won't be an issue when we don't use it in the living room. It is quiet, even on 12, at least compared to our former fan from another company, but that one blew fairly hard.

On just a medium setting, this fan quietly provides an excellent amount of air circulation in a 30 by 30 foot living room. The remote for this fan works well, even from several feet away. It has a broad sturdy base and caged blades, so is reasonably safe for children and pets. Very happy with this fan!

Rated 1 out of 5 by DaveK from Fiasco to assemble 15 minutes to assemble??? Try 30 minutes and two people to assemble that ridiculous grill. It’s not rocket science, but the instructions are worthless leaving it to guesswork. I can’t imagine a 75 year old widow having to struggle with this.
