The batteries are only accessible from the “secure” portion of the unit installed in the house. Without the ability to get into the house, there is no way to change the batteries.

Will this work on a vivint security system and on -40 Temeprature?

Haven’t had -40 temps, so can’t answer that, however, the unit is not WiFi enabled. You have to physically enter your code on the device and cannot be opened remotely.

Outside plate is 2-3/4" wide by 4-3/8" high. Inside Plate is 2-11/16" wide by 5-11/16" high.

No, there is no WiFi or Bluetooth connection. You need to enter the code to unlock.

The recommended installation dimensions for Weiser model # GED1700 CNT SMT 15 are 2 1/8" cross bore, 1" edge bore hole, 2 3/8" or 2 ¾” backset and door thickness of 1 3/8" to 1 3/4". Please contact or visit your local Lowe’s special order counter for availability, pricing and shipping options.

They even included two types of door cylinders for you to choice from. I had no problems putting in the codes.Seems to be working well. You need 4 AA batteries.

Rated 4 out of 5 by realsguy from Great for all homes I had the original Weiser electronic lock, but the key pad finally wore out after about almost 20 years. I replaced it with this one. HOWEVER, I bought one and brought it home and parts were missing, so had to go back to the store. The box showed no signs of tampering as they have the clear round tape on the box and I checked when I bought it. The company said they could send the parts, but it would take a week so I had to go back to the store to exchange it, wasted an hour and a half of my time. ONLY thing wrong with this "smart key" is that the old Weiser Key is a different blank and won't go into the key hole, so now I have to use the key that came with the new lock, and I can't key it to the other locks in the house. Quite a disappointment, as that is the reason I bought another Weiser lock.

This installed very easily, smooth operation, lots of programming options. I really like the temp code for single one time entry.Also will use to set and delete a guest code easily.
