Can the cooktop lights be replaced with LED?

Hi tdtdtdtd, thanks for your question. Absolutely the Cooktop light and the Cavity light can both be replaced when needed. You will find instructions in the Use and Care Guide available on whirlpool.ca or accompanying your Range Hood. The light bulb can be ordered via our Parts Team at 1-800-807-6777. I hope this helps!

I cannot program power and time without closing the door in between, but when I close the door it automatically enters a 2, so I can only set the time for 2 sec, 20 sec, or 2 min. I assume the latter is a defect, but the former seems to be a flaw?

Do it in the other order.  Enter time first, eg 444 then press Power, touch 1-9 for 10-90%.  Close door and start.

There seems to be customers who received a unit with a logo and some without the logo. I'd prefer a unit without the logo -- can anyone clear this up?

Ours doesn't have a logo---BUT---I wouldn't recommend this microwave. It doesn't have enough power. Our 30 year old "over the stove" microwave was much more powerful. It takes forever to rewarm food which is what we use it for 99% of the time. If you buy it you will be disappointed.

We just installed this microwave and it looks and fits great. The only issue we're having is that the light over the stove isn't very bright. Is it possible and safe to install a higher wattage replacement bulb?

Yes, as long as it is an LED. The change in wattage is rather irrelevant. I found the same thing. But I love the microwave. It's perfect.

Yes you can install it attached to the cabinet and wall, if you look on the whirlpool website you view the installation guide to give you a better idea for your space.  You’ll need to secure to the wall with a plate or you can get aftermarket wall brackets.

The safety guide suggests at least 24”, but we are setting it at 21” because we have an electric range and we don’t do a lot of cooking.

I discovered that I could pull the door open manually if needed. Starting in November, the door would just randomly pop open. Sometimes while we were in the other room watching TV or even in the middle of the night. On the 2nd of January, I came home to find the door open again but it would not allow me to close it. The solenoid that pushes the door open was extended and would not retract. After 4 hours we went to bed. On the morning of the 3rd, the solenoid was retracted again. I'm hoping to be able to return it to the vendor I purchased it from.

Rated 4 out of 5 by The Cat and the Dog from Slim Microwave Our conventional over-range microwave was so tall I had trouble working with the back burners of my stove. This was a good solution. I rarely used my microwave for anything bigger than a TV dinner, so this is perfect for me. It will hold up to a tall mug for heating things and is very sleek and attractive. The exhaust fan is strong and has worked well. The light is could be a little brighter on "high" in my opinion. I don't rely on it for more than a nightlight really though, so that's OK. I am happy with my purchase. Like most things improvements could be made but this was the best for me at the time.

Had always disliked how the large unit restricted access to the back burners of the stove and got hot when we cooked on the stove. We wished that we had not followed the instructions for placement and had mounted it higher. We were a little worried that this unit might look funny or be too small, but have decided it is the perfect size. I looks great with our other appliances, and I love the 30 second timer. It saves time, but takes a couple of minutes to get used to. Overall, very happy with purchase.

The template is the wall bracket. I installed it by myself in less then an hour. We love the design. No one talks about the “open” button. When pressed the door opens by itself. Everyone loves it. I was worried it would be too small but it’s really quite big inside. They only con for me is the light. It is not quite bright enough. I may see if I can put in a brighter bulb. The fan works amazing. We have the roof vent and install of that part was easy also. I would recommend to anyone. We LOVE it !!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JohnnyH from Nice Micro, like the 10 1/2" height. Just finished installing. No templet or measurements for drilling holes for screws from sides. There was a measurement from the rear wall. Instruction said a template was included. It wasn't. I'm a carpenter for 40 years so I have done this many times before. Measure twice drill once. All in a 1hr job of medium difficulty. Worth pointing out, Whirpool requires a 1 1/2" spade bit or hole saw bit for the cord which not many but serious woodworkers have to install. The microwave is decent quality compared to other brands but does have a strong fan to vent fumes and smoke from range top. Good cooking features but a small learning curve is required. It does run quiet. Just did the maiden voyage.

However, the touchpad within 10 days of installation occasionally failed to respond. This was the outside touchpad and I attributed to not touching in correct area or finger was maybe slightly soiled. (This takes a very light touch to operate, no need to punch buttons with pressure.) It has been just over 30 days after installation and inside touchpad has failed completely and I have seldom used this pad. Have contacted Whirlpool and am hopeful a solution will involve no fees, as I believe this unit was defective from start.

Rated 3 out of 5 by frank from Comments after 6 months I have had my Whirlpool 1.1 cu ft low profile for about 6 months. We were impressed with the low profile and we only needed limited functions. The unit looks attractive and is easy to use. Disappointed with some things. I am used to having a bright light in my previous hood fan to shine on the stove. The light for shining on the stove is about what you have from a child's night light. Almost useless. The fan works fine but quite noisy. Depending on the height of the cupboards you mount it to be aware how tall the users are. I have no trouble seeing into it - my wife is shorter and has trouble seeing into the unit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a little skeptical that it would look odd and we would feel like we lost oven space, but couldn't be happier with this purchase. We can now reach better to the back of stove while cooking without ducking. The unit sticks out a little further than our old, larger microwave but I think it actually makes it seem like a more upscale style vent hood all while having a seamless, elegant look to our kitchen. Everything that we normally cook in the microwave fits just fine in this one. However, if you have kids you might want to splurge a little bit for the fingerprint resistant finish. I've noticed it gets prints on it pretty easily.
