Description

This top load dryer uses sensor drying technology to help prevent overdrying by stopping the load at just the right time. Easily keep loads on your schedule with the Wrinkle Shield(TM) Option which helps keep wrinkles from setting with continued tumbling after the cycle ends or use Timed Dry for extra drying time when you need it.

Moisture sensing: two sensors increase your dryer's ability to measure moisture and temperature, helping prevent overdrying by automatically stopping the cycle when the load is dry
Wrinkle shield(TM) option: after the cycle ends, help keep wrinkles from setting into clean, dry fabrics with the wrinkle shield(TM) option - it keeps clothes tumbling for up to 2.5 hours after the cycle ends or until you open the door
Timed Dry: take control of your time and the dryness level of your load-set the control for 15, 30, 60 or 90 minutes when a damp load needs a little extra dry time or when using a drying rack

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dryer has a huge capacity, the sensor feature works pretty well and it has never left damp or wet clothes in the dryer. The only exception is pillows, be sure to use dryer balls which would help. It helps to read the user manual because there are many options to drying. There is nothing over complicated and I just use the Normal setting and it works just fine. The reason I gave it a 4 is because I don't like the slide out dryer filter, it dumps alot of dust bunnies all over the top of the dryer.

There are fairly decent amounts of dampness. I have noticed this in other dryers but it normally doesn't happen for a year or more. I have had this one for only a month. I have also put it on a 90 minute drying cycle and let it run and the clothes are about the same as if I used the sensor mode. These aren't big loads either, 2 towels, white t-shirts, and socks.

It is not the most expensive and not the cheapest but it provides the required features and lack of "computer screens" that I wanted. We were replacing a old gas dryer that just didn't dry our clothes enough. This one hasn't let us down and keeps the close dry. We also love the fact that it has the hamper style door so we can open it and take out the clothes without them falling on the ground or set them on the door to sort out something we need to get quickly. The settings are enough for a small family but I don't think if you had over 4-5 people that this would be a good fit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Mariner from Affordable dryer but with issues [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this dryer for a couple months now and could have rated it within the first couple days of having used it but wanted to give the product a fair shake. The machine’s moisture sensor doesn’t work as it should. I always have to restart the dryer at least once or twice before the load is completely dry. Now, before anyone jumps to the conclusion that I’m overloading the machine, I’m not. I have put as little as 4-5 t-shirts, a couple pairs of jeans, and some socks and underwear and still had to restart the drying cycle on the “More Dry” setting.

Using the towel cycle and moisture sensors on two, and timer and high temperature on the other two, the bath towels were not completely dry at the end of the cycle. I'll monitor the cycles to determine which is more efficient. The machine this replaced was also a Whirlpool, 16 years old, and dried larger loads in one cycle, but that machine was designed by engineers, not environmentalists.

This new version is extremely disappointing. The design is awful: the top surface is slanted! Thus, as I place clothing on the top of the dryer in order to sort and fold, they fall off onto the floor! Whose idea was that!! Also, after reading the poor instructions and experimenting with various approaches multiple times, my clothes are either too dry (which is wearing to the material) or still damp. And, the end of cycle signal is important to me but the volume on this one is horrendous and is not adjustable. Please find and return my old but wonderful previous dryer to me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Sean from Looks really nice but has a couple issues. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The picture looks like the one I bought but the description says Top Load. It isn't top load. It is front load. It says it is moisture sensing but that doesn't work real well (some clothes come out damp) so we just use the 'timer' option and set it for an hour (options are 15, 30, 60, 90 minutes. We were used to keeping our laundry determent and bleach on top of our old dryer but we can't do that now because the dryer top slopes down from the control panel to the front so anything solid gradually moves to the front and falls off to the garage floor. You can keep an armful of clothes or other non-hard-bottom items there and they don't slide off.

Easy to use without a lot of high tech gizmos. We’re in our 70’s and wanted a dryer that does its job with controls that don’t require a learning curve. This dryer replaced our old Kenmore that resembled a square box. It had a flat top. The Whirlpool looks more modern but the top is at a slight angle and our bottle of wash detergent slid off during one of the cycles. The door and inside light makes retrieving clothes fairly easy but why can’t the engineers design a dryer so all clothes end up near the door so you don’t have to reach to the back of the dryer to grab a sock?

It’s a pretty vanilla in terms of technology and bells and whistles…but that’s why we bought them! We had a sexy Samsung pair, paid way too much, and had issues with them multiple times within the 5 year period they were functioning! We are extremely pleased with this pair but beware…they aren’t sexy just reliable! We got this style of door for a reason as well…we were tired of moving clothes from the washer to the dryer and having them fall onto the floor. This way the door catches them! It’s great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The dryer works OK but the design of the top with a slanted top was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen on a dryer. Seems it was designed by someone who lived in their parents basement never did laundry. When I try to fold clothes and put them on top of the dryer while I fold the rest of the clothes, they slide off. Brilliant! What genius thought of that? Also put the filter by the hamper door so it’s easier to clean. Pulling the filter out of the top of the dryer so all the lint can fall all over, is so inconvenient.

So far I have been very happy with its performance. I do have two issues. The finish buzzer’s volume is too low. I never hear it unless I am right near it. Mine is in the basement so I would love if it was louder and longer. Second, it is an attractive machine but the top slants and you can’t leave anything on the top. It will fall off.

I find the door opening small, it’s smaller than my previous Whirlpool dryer. Also, the end of cycle signal is audible only if you are standing next the dryer. Not sure if my dryer is defective in that area or if that’s the way it’s supposed to be. If it is, the mute signal choice is useless. Other than these two things, which have nothing to do with the functioning of the dryer and why I only gave 4 stars, it works great.

It has all the settings you would need, and it was one of the most affordable models available so very pleased. Might need to run on "more dry" setting with any load larger than medium, but that is the only thing I have noticed so far that might not be the most ideal.

The door doesn’t stay shut tight, and its had a rattling noise since day one. I wanted to return it but Menards said I couldn’t since it had already been hooked up. I do have a service appointment scheduled but even if they can fix the issues I’ll still hate this dryer. First Whirlpool anything I’ve ever owned and I’m not impressed.

The first eleven had insignificant occurrences. The last one however, I noticed right away that my laundry room smelled funny. Like gas. I opened the dryer and found my clothing to smell just like lighter fluid or butane. I panicked. I am not sure why this is the case but upon further research, sometimes these things happen. I was shocked. Brand new dryer... awful smelling clothes. I followed advice found on the internet to run a no heat cycle for a while to let it burn off. I re-washed my load and then again dried it. The odor seems to have dissipated, however, I'm skeptical it may happen again. Complete inconvenience.

Gets way hotter than the old dryer and is way more efficient. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is I don’t live where the lint trap is. Cleaning it out leaves lint and dust all over the top of the unit. The unit was over 20 years old so I decided not to repair it. I bought this whirlpool dryer at a very reputable dealer that I have used for years. I love the unit. I repaired my vent line in the process of installing the new dryer and it works beautifully. The only complaint I have about the unit is that the on know is very delicate. I would have preferred a dial that was a littler stronger to the touch.

I would have preferred “push button” controls but I am getting used to these. The lint trap is difficult to clean. Whirlpool might want to consider including a trap cleaning brush with the dryer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just bought this dryer about a month ago and I can honestly say I am very very pleased with its performance. It dries my clothes a whole lot faster than my previous dryer it is very efficient and I know it is saving me money. It is very easy to operate the internal size is very large and handles big loads with absolutely no issues. I like the fact that the filter is in the top and not located by the door which can be problematic when you're trying to close the door and it keeps hitting the filter as my previous dryer was like. The quality and workmanship being that it was made in the usa is awesome. It is a great product rest assured that when my washing machine and stove needs to be Replaced we will be going to Whirlpool for them.

It is also long and narrow. I have to bend way down to get clothes out of the back of the dryer and since the door folds down and not to the side I have to put the basket off to the side instead of in front of the dryer. Reaching over the open door to get to the back isn't easy as I have bad knees. I am Nancy Smith, John's wife and I use it more than he does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Joannemk from Love how fast things dry [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this dryer about one month ago when my Cabrio, that I had almost 16 years, stopped working (the control panel went). Given that I really liked the Cabrio and got such good service out of it, I decided to stay with Whirlpool and got a very similar machine. It actually dries better than the Cabrio at lower temperatures. Its a little smaller drum than the Cabrio, but overall still a great machine. We are very happy with our purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Underwhelming from Underwhelming [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this dryer for a couple of months now and I find it doesn’t dry clothes thoroughly. Often the clothes are still damp after one drying cycle. Also, there is a lag time between the start button and when the drying actually begins drying so it’s easy to assume the dryer will start after it is done “sensing” but it sometimes does not. There have been a few times I’ve checked in my clothes only to find out the dryer never started.

There are way more than I need. It doesn't dry big loads the first time even on high setting. So, need to do twice. I usually like to do a few large loads but, it doesn't dry like I would expect. So have to do more smaller loads. For me, not what I would expect. So, if you do smaller loads it works fine. Should have a maybe button for next question.
