Ok we have a whirlpool reverse osmosis water filter, for some reason there is air leaking from side of the tap, bit of water leaks from tap also

This is “normal”, as the opening on the side of the tap base is used as a vacuum break for the ‘waste’ water to drain out. I just blew air into the opening and it cleared the tube into the drain. You can try to reroute the waste water tube so there are no bends that allow water to collect.

I am replacing my old whirlpool R.O. system, after 10 years it has developed a leak, I had to replace the tank about 5 years ago. But it is definitly worth it. It puts bottled water to shame. I guess this model replaces the older under the sink model, but uses the same filters, so i guess i will buy it. Honestly, people come to my house just to drink the water. I have had to install this system in all of my family's houses after they tasted my water. I have tasted other systems water and there is no comparison. This is the BEST. Also I do not use the faucet that comes with it, I run it directly to my refrigerator water supply, so I get great ice and drinking water too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by mcrattler from leaks Bought this after seeing the one my parents bought years ago and were happy with. The spot itself is a little loose/not sturdy. I had to really tighten the fitting on the top of the tank to stop that leak, but it stopped at least. However I found that the filter set itself is leaking from the plastic unit. My dad undid them and re tightened and it still leaks a little. I tried calling the support number and they are only available 8a - 5p Monday- Friday. Any normal person works during this time and is away from home. Very unhappy I bought this from Lowes a week ago. It was the only undamaged box, but I guess they were all damaged.

Called the company who sent me the parts free of charge. Received the parts two days later. Unfortunately, the connection still leaked. After pulling the unit out from under the cabinet, I immediately saw the problem: a cracked manifold housing at the blue collet connector. Called the company back to see about ordering a new manifold, expecting the pay for the part since the warranty had expired several years ago. Well, the company sent me a complete, new manifold for no charge. I was very impressed. BTW, this is a great product!!! Whirlpool values their customers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dawn from 5 years and running strong! I've owned the Whirlpool RO system - purchased from Lowe's - for nearly 5 years, and I love it! The water is clean, and I've run tests on it as well, compared to my tap and there is no comparison. One thing about a RO system, is that of course, it filters out nearly everything - the bad - and the good. So I like to remineralize the water, and I also make it slightly alkaline. The products I currently like to use are "Alkazone" drops, and "ConcenTrace Mineral Drops." There are others on the market, but I like these, and they also make the water taste better. (It tastes "fine" without these, but again, RO essentially strips the water and nutrients out...so it's a good idea to put good stuff back in for health reasons. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ron from Filter change indicator battery compartment Filter change indicator battery compartment is not very well sealed, letting water (moisture) into the battery compartment causing corrosion. The battery in our unit only lasted approximately a week before indicating battery replacement. After opening up the battery compartment to replace the battery, we found corrosion and one of the battery terminals had corroded and broken off. Other than the battery compartment seal issues, great unit, easy to install.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AJ from A good unit for the price For the price, this Whirlpool RO unit is a bargain. What I like most about it is the ease of changing filters. In my old unit I use to pay a company to come out and change them, for a pretty hefty price. You don't even have to turn the water off to change these filters. It gets 4 stars for the cheap faucet. I don't expect it to last very long. The plumber that installed my unit told me all the battery-operated indicator in the faucet is, is a timer, telling me when 6 months have elapsed. It has nothing to do with the filter condition, so I left the battery completely out of mine. If I had to do it again, I would still buy this unit, but I would buy a higher quality faucet at the same time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Rick from Produces very little water after 4 months. We bought this to supply water to an under counter ice maker and a small faucet we used maybe twice a day. It worked okay for about 4 months. It has gotten to where it won't produce enough water for either. Changed filters twice after talking to support people at Whirlpool twice. Still couldn't fill a 20 ounce cup. Wouldn't keep water in the tank. Called Whirlpool one more time. Support guy basically told me there was nothing wrong with my system. It must be something else. other than filters, nothing has changed since it was installed. Very disappointed in Whirlpool service. Will no longer be using their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gcoop59 from Good unit, great price. We bought this unit about a year and a half ago and have really enjoyed it. We are on our 2nd filter change now without any problems. It makes great tasting water, ergo great tasting tea and coffee. I think the faucet could be a litle more substantial and rugged, but it all works great.
