will this primer adhere to a pvc fitting which is submerged in water?

Asked by: dmon
I cannot comfortably say it will. Sticking to the pvc would be tricky enough. However, I am not an expert. Sorry.

Hi! I want to paint my wooden dresser and i was wondering what should i do after i sand it? Put on the prime coat? Do I need a paint and a finishing coat? Or just this primer?

Asked by: lola236
Hi lola236, For wood, we recommend our Zinsser Cover Stain primer instead. Then you can top coat with either a water or oil based top coat of your choice. Our primers will not hold up on their own.

Can I use this product to paint ceramic tile around my fireplace? Is it safe for surfaces that get warm / hot?

Asked by: Jdee123
Hi Jdee123, Our Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer can withstand heat between 180-220 degrees Celsius. As long as the heat around the fireplace does not exceed that, then it will be ok to paint the ceramic tile around your fireplace.

Can i use this to paint my garage floor and will it last through a Canadian winter and cars parked inside - will it peel?

Asked by: Sibby1979
No, this paint is primer/ sealer and is only for walls. Use concrete paint for floors. There may be special paint for garage floors.

Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 3.78-L Tintable White Base Primer for All Surfaces is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 329.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from good product at a good price I had to use this primer on galvanished steel. I put it in a paint gun too. It went on smooth and dried to the touch within an hour. i put two coats on and it covered everything nicely. not too bad an odor, i did it in a garage. Not much to say just it's a good primer for a good price. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars was because I was testing the durability and I could scrape it off with my finger nail if I tried, but i feel all primers would when on metal. So dont' put too much stock in that comment. I'd use it again. And it's white which help me with the yellow paint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kilz vs Bulls Eye 1 2 3 [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have used Kilz several times and was happy with it for the purpose it was intended for but the smell was horrendous and had to make sure we had plenty of ventilation. So we had to wait on the weather on the outside was good so we could open the doors. And that is just a short time in the south. Yes we used the latest up to date with "Low Odor" and could not stand it. With Bulls Eye we can breath better and no open doors. But one of the cost savings is the amount that has to be used is so much better. And that alone is what should make you want to buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best primer for mobile home plastic wall paper. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was desperate to paint over my nasty paisley wall paper in my 1987 double wide. After read horror stories about people painting over plastic coated wall paper in thier mobile homes, only to have it fall off in giant sheets, I was considering replacing all the wallboard. Then I read that bullseye primer would stick to any surface. It was expensive, but if it worked would save so much work. We washed all walls and spayed and rolled the whole house. 5 years later it still looks awsome !!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wasn’t the best for my application [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I want to to white wash a rough cedar wall which had black staining showing through the wood. I used this Zinzer primer to try to cover the black stains so that they would not show through the white paint. Even after three and four coats of this primer, the stains were visible. Admittedly, they were less visible the more coats of primer I put on; However, I feel that four coats of primer is excessive. This may work better for a different application, but it did not work for mine. When I read the Cannes, it said that it was for Ward, so I figured this would hide the stains and it did not

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best general purpose primer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a professional painter I have tried many primers. I love bull’s-eye 123, first of all for superior adhesion that is better than most primers. The dry time is great, and the price is better than any other primer of similar quality. I will say 123 is better for adhesion than for hide. But if you are using quality finish paint, that’s all you need. I will add that if you want to cover stubborn stains like water damage or tannin stains for knotty pine, you are definitely going to want to use Zinsser BIN instead for those spots. The BIN is pretty much the only thing that’s going to cover those anyway. But for everything else I use the 123. By the way, I have read complaints that the 123 is watery. I wouldn’t go that far, but the viscosity does vary with temperature. If it seems runny, don’t overload you brush and roller and you’ll be fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low odor, smooth application, quick coverage This is the second variety of primer I purchased for my project. I used it to cover glossy painted surfaces and baseboards in a bedroom. The baseboards were manufactured white and appeared to never have been painted. I used a high quality brush and a very small foam roller. The primer is almost odorless to my nose. It applies easily and eradicated the blue/yellow/green of the room. It appears to be self leveling and my brush strokes & roller texture vanished by the time it dried. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comment about Zinsser I swear by this stuff! It says it dries in one hour and you can then paint over it, and you can. The person who said that it peeled off in sheets the next day...well, you have to let it cure for 3 days, then it won't peel off! Yes, you could peel it off if it hasn't cured yet. Hope it's not too late--don't peel it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this as a primer for laminate cabinets before painting. I gave a 4 because I still had to sand them prior to priming although it says no sanding. Maybe you wouldn’t have to do this on a different surface that isn’t so difficult to paint! Also let the primer “set” before painting over with the valspar cabinet paint. Turned out great. No peeling 3 weeks later
