What do you use to clean up BIN Primer

Posée par: Yacker
A touch of ammonia. Only need a bit. 1 part ammonia to 3 parts water. I swirl the brush around in a glass spaghetti jar with only an inch or so of ammonia/water in the jar.  Cleans the brush right off.

I have solid wood crown moulding that has been varnished can I use this Zinsser on it without sanding then paint over it?

Posée par: Markis1
Hi Markis1, While sanding is usually not required, any surfaces that are very smooth could use a light sanding with 220-grit for maximum adhesion.

I need to cover pet odor in an unfinished basement. Can I use this in the cement floors?

Posée par: Laini
Hi Laini, Thank you for your question. Our Zinsser BIN was not designed for a floor application as it will not hold up to foot traffic. For pet odors, we recommend our Concrobium Mold Control, as it is great at not just killing mold but odors from pets as well. Apply and allow to dry. It generally dries within 2 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. If odors remain, the cement be more porous and may require a second application. We hope this answers your question. Feel free to contact us again if you require further information.

Is this good to prime ceramic tile than put acrylic paint over it?

Posée par: Corza
Hi Corza, Thank you for your question. If this is for a floor application; Our Zinsser BIN primer was not designed for horizontal surfaces such as floors. If this is for walls, ceiling; we recommend our Zinssers Bulls Eye 123 if you plan on using an acrylic paint to top coat your ceramic tiles. We hope this answers your question. Feel free to contact us again if you require further information.

Is this product the same as kilz original or BIN original red label or is the BIN RED label shellac base the only one, and is it available in 5 gallon?

Posée par: Naomikiwi
BIN is shellac base, and is good for blocking bleed through from knots or water stain.

Would this be good for kitchen and bathroom cabinets?, and can I use a good paint for cabinets over it?

Posée par: naza
BIN is not a good primer to use to completely cover new wood, because it does not breath. If there is moisture in the wood, a sudden temperature change would cause the moisture to expand, pushing the BIN and topcoat off. BIN is meant a stain blocker, not a whole surface primer. If the cabinets are wood, and you have knots or water marks bleeding, treat the knots with BIN, and use 123 or PermaWhite for the whole surface

Apprêt d'impression B-I-N Zinsser, base de gomme laque, 3,78 L, blanc est évalué 4.8 de 5 de 80.
Rated 5 de 5 de par This stuff is awesome We had a loser drywall guy use spoiled mud when he re textured our ceilings. He said the smell would go away in a week or two. IT DID NOT! Our house smelled like vomit for over a month and we tried everything short of ripping out the ceilings. In the meantime we were living in chaos. We found this and it worked perfectly! We thought is was expensive until it worked so well and right away. Some people online were complaining of the smell of the product. Really? Would you rather smell vomit? It smelled like Bailey's to us and was strong for a few hours then went away completely along with the vomit! Thank you for this product!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Amazing! I tried several different stain blocking primers on my stained wood ceiling panels and none of them worked. My neighbor mentioned this product and said it worked wonders back in his painting days. He was not kidding, it worked great! It has a high alcohol content so make sure you have a respirator and ventilation. Unfortunately I was in an airtight room and the safety gogle I wore were not adequate. My vision was hazy for about 45 minutes after flushing with water. So please wear proper gear! Otherwise, this stuff is all you need. Spend the extra money, I promise the time, effort, and cleanup from trying the other stuff is not worth the $20 savings. (I spent $60 over the process of trying the others before purchasing this product.)

Rated 5 de 5 de par BIN Primer !!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a former painting contractor and now a DIY homeowner/and rental property owner I rely on BIN to cover tannin bleed found in old plaster. It seals pine knots and it makes a great surface prep to hang wallpaper on either plaster or sheetrock surfaces. For this purpose I have it tinted to the color of the back ground in the wallpaper for better coverage. The photo below is a plaster wall with bin applied first then taping with joint compound. A second spot coat of BIN is applied to cover the compound. I also have found that compound does not adhere to broken plaster surfaces without a primer so I use BIN to solve that dilemma. Unlike oil based sealers the smell dissipates quickly.

Rated 5 de 5 de par oak cabinet kryptonite. Purchased this stuff after seeing many good reviews about it; It did not dissapoint. My kitchen has quite of few cabinets in there. Ive never taking on a project of that scale before so i decided to do the guest bathroom first. Wow! Two coats of this stuff and the oak grain is gone. With two coats of paint nobody will ever know those are oak cabinets. Zinsser has me wanting to prime everything in the house that is oak. I highly recomend this product! Get it, follow the instructions, sand in between coats with 220 and you would be dissapointed either.

Rated 5 de 5 de par It REALLY Works! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After our baby boy was born, our cat was diagnosed with extreme anxiety and started marking all over our carpets throughout the house. We tried all of the typical remedies - multiple carpet cleanings, shampooing, steaming, etc with no luck. We decided to spend the money to rip out all carpets and put new flooring throughout the entire house. After pulling up the carpet & padding we realized the subfloors were soaked through which is why we could never get rid of the smell. It took 3 coats of BIN Shellac Primer (I added a 4th coat just to be certain) and it worked! No more smell! Painters are coming today to BIN prime the walls & trim as well before painting. New flooring will go in next week!

Rated 5 de 5 de par This stuff is good Bought this as it is recommended to use on knotty pine prior to using kitchen cabinet transformations. While it is expensive it does what it needed to do. I used two coats on my kitchen cabinets before I painted them white. The cabinets came out great with no bleeding through of the knots. It didn't make sense not to use this and risk ruining the project. Will use again . Highly recommend.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Go to 1st [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I stripped popcorn texture from my ceiling water method, then added texture well it all turned yellow except the existing joints. I tried BIN the water based stuff yellow bled through. next I tried Kilz3 same result because it is water based. last resort was BIN Interior Multi-Purpose SHELLAC Primer. One coat and all yellow is gone looks really nice and white ready for Paint. I need to do a few more rooms so I will not be wasting my time and $$$ on any other product. the fumes are Quite strong so you will need a fan to help with air circulation, fumes were gone by morning. I highly recommend this product even though it is pricey.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Seals Amazingly Well While pricey, this stuff does the job. We used it to seal the stains in the subfloor from dog stains after we pulled up the old carpet and before we installed new flooring. No odors - simple as that.
