Rated 1 de 5 de Gerri par DO NOT BUY I purchased this freezer in June 2015. The design is bad in that you have to keep a clear area around the vents in back. If you don't the air can't circulate and your food thaws. A lot of my food was thawing and at first we thought the air flow was blocked. We made sure there was air flow space. That was several days ago. We set it to the coldest setting. This evening the food on the top shelf and in the door is thawed. The warranty is only good for one year. I've basically gotten less than 2 years from this freezer. I will be buying another freezer that WON'T be a Whirlpool. The one star rating is only because there isn't a way to give zero stars.

While the Whirlpool has a nice design and plenty of space, there is something left to be desired for the temperature settings. You have only 3 settings whereas my other one had a range from 1 to 7. My ice cream is doesn't freeze hard like the other one. In fact, ice cream and ice cream bars on the soft side which is frustrating. There is plenty of space and airflow so I don't understand why this is occurring. I may be returning it, though it's quite a bit of trouble to haul it all the way back to Lowe's. I quite disappointed as I've had good experiences with all my other Whirlpool products.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Followed instructions, did the quick freeze setting and the next evening it had set to recommended setting and felt cold inside. I transferred two processed frozen deer from our other freezer to the new freezer. Everything is closed up tight and running. Thee days later I check on it and everything is hot, rancid, bag have opened. This was frozen meat that was put in there, I can’t even thaw it in a fridge in that time. Something went horribly wrong. Lowe’s replaced the freezer with the next size up since they weren’t able to replace the venison we lost. The one star is for our freezer... it was probably just a dud and we happened to get it.

But before buying this freezer be sure the door handle are the right size, read all bad experiences of other buyer who get problem if they have turn the door , the same experiences than everyone complain happen , I was force to return it. door are not perfectly arrange for switch the handle. very bad conception. So I recommand it if the door open at the side your want if not buy some freezer, it not work and you will lose time to get refound and the services are not appropriate for this trouble. Void to buy some trouble by selecting the door opening the right side!

Rated 2 de 5 de JTW par Does not keep food frozen This is the worst appliance purchase I have ever made! It was bought in Oct 2015 to replace my 20-yr old Kenmore manual defrost. Worked fine until the past few months, when it goes into sporadic defrost mode. The repairman told me to remove all food, disconnect for 24 hrs and plug back in. Worked for a few weeks and then we had to repeat the routine all over again. Now it keeps a rather steady 18-20 degrees, which does not keep food frozen solid. And forget ice cream! I like to freeze excess garden produce but I simply don't trust this appliance, so I'll be canning again this year.

Rated 5 de 5 de Thomas par Tip for reversing the door Thank you to all the Lowes customer reviewers who pointed out the difficulty that arose when reversing the door. We bought this freezer because the door was reversible, The problem is easy to remedy. The freezer was crated in such a way that the lower left portion of the door seal became compressed. When you reverse the door make sure the seal is extended and decompressed and makes a perfect seal all the way around the door before plugging in the freezer. There is nothing defective about the seal or the cabinet. Ours is working perfectly with the door reversed.

I did not purchase insurance, thinking what could go wrong with a simple freezer? I went to garage, and found a complete food loss, with drainage all over the floor. Frigidaire statement: gee, you should have purchased the insurance. The cost for an appliance repair technician: $180 for diagnostic visit, plus parts to be ordered, plus follow up visit charges....then hope this is the problem. So I can spend more than half the value of the appliance repairing it, or more, after 13 months of use.

Rated 1 de 5 de Rob par Disappointed. Not working in under 6 months Poor quality. In less then 6 months, the evaporator coils are frozen solid, even with keeping items stored away from the vents. Still under warranty, but the company they use for repairs have a 1.5 star rating at the Better Business Bureau and we have to wait at least 4 days for someone to service it. Luckily, I was able to repair the 25+ year old freezer it was replacing, or everything would be ruined. Seeing other people have the same problem. Will not buy Whirlpool again.
