Caractéristiques

«Keracolor U» est un coulis de ciment Portland sans sable, prémélangé et modifié aux polymères et de qualité supérieure, n'exigeant que l'ajout d'eau. Pour des joints de 1,5 mm (1/16 po) à 3 mm (1/8 po) entre les carreaux.

Do i have to seal this grout i like the color and i dont want to darken it at all with a sealer its in my kitchen and i have small children

The sealee will go on wet obviously and scare you but it dries again to what you had previously.

Hi! The sols us this kind of grout for the ceramic in our shower. It has been a month since the installation and it just chipped. Were we suppose to seal it? When bying a grout for a shower I was expecting it to be resistant under water.

All grout unless otherwise stated needs to be sealed. You can do this before hand by mixing sealer with the powder instead of water. Or sealing by hand with a brush.

How fast does this grout dry before it can be sealed? is there fast drying grout?

We used Keracolor S for our mud room with no issues and it turned out fine so we figured with our subway tile shower, which has a joint of less than 1/8", we would use the Keracolor U. We followed the instructions exactly and even used bottled water to mix the grout. It looked fine after mixing and applied fine. We wiped with a well wrung out sponge as per instructions and assumed everything would be fine. However, when the grout started to dry, it started turning white instead of the greyish frost colour it was suppose to be. There was a layer of haze over all the grout and multiple pinholes! We tried haze remover as recommended on the mapei site for dealing with haze and inflorescence. This did remove some of the white but it turns out that there are also chunks of polymer and the colour is uneven regardless! After talking with a few tilers, it seems unsanded mapei grout has this problem often! Wish I knew this before we purchased it! Long story short, the grout looks awful and now we have to spend countless hours and over $200 in supplies to remove all the grout and regrout. Not to mention that inevitably some tiles will get damaged during the grout removal process. At this point, we will never use mapei grout again! Save yourself the trouble and use a better grout like Servoperl.
