Set up is easy. Download the google home app on your smart phone first. Plug in google mini and select the google mini device in the google home app and follow the prompts.

I have all of these set up as 2 different speaker pairs, so they stereo together (great feature) and act as 1 speaker to Home and apps. The sound is good, better than what you expect from their size. My only issue is with the connecting. Maybe it's because I have a lot of Google speakers, but often when I try to play media out of a speaker, either in Spotify or Home app, a random speaker will be missing. It's frustrating, as it always seems to be the speaker for the room I am in! It's a small complaint (that may not even be the actual units issue) for a really great product.

Rated 1 de 5 de Kboooooo par Underwhelmed The Nest mini falls flat with home automation. Also, lately I have found the devices wake up often without the wake words being used. I have turned off the mics to avoid this. As Chromecast speakers, they also underwhelmed. Often I cannot find the speakers available on my home network and have to reboot devices for them to show up in the chromecast menu. Overall, I find them finiky and annoying. I use Amazon Echos for home automation and my phone for Google searches. For audio I use a Bluetooth adapter and a regular analog stereo speaker system. Unlike the nest mini, I find those setups work well and reliably. I do not recommend this product.

It would be nice to improve some voice commands and interface with apps like spotify though. For example, with smart home lights, it'd be nice to be able to control brightness and colour and on off in one voice command, instead of having to quote hey google quote separately every time. Also, asking google to play spotify can yield some interesting results... it would just make so much more sense that it'd just play whatever song I left off with last time instead of blasting ram ranch every single time I ask it to resume my last song on spotify, which in fact is almost never ram ranch...

I use the google mini to break me out of spiraling thought processes and to remind me of things I need to do. It also helps me to create schedules for sleeping and waking up taking medications and information. There is also a neat feature to be able to have it tell you when the sun rises and sets. There is also a neat feature where she lols will tell me I am obviously a nice Canadian when I thank her for telling me the weather so I can pick out a good outfit. It also helps me to roleplay a stressful event and will help me to breathe. I love this product! Very helpful for my mental health issues.

Rated 1 de 5 de Brandon par Bad Unresponsive, constantly plays incorrect songs. When it plays the correct songs will chose to play the clean versions even when i request explicit. Sometimes when i say “hey google” will start listening then immediately shut off. Rarely use the voice function since it is so faulty and usually connect through spotify. Even through doing that there is issues. Will play songs from the middle even when the song is at the beginning. So many voice commands that it wont understand. Seems like the only thing it can do is tell you the weather, set timers, and play music. Of course that is when it chooses to work. I could go on but I think you get the point.

The hidden cost of having to buy subscriptions to use the device, the sometimes difficult process of it doing a task, or needing better internet (Mbps) to get you smart home working. These things come at a cost to the user from the device and are not clear from beyond the fine print that this is needed. I'd rather just use my mobile. Which I usually do.Don't get me wrong, the convenience of not having to pick up your device to get information is great and set alarms. But it's a speaker, speakers should have speaker functionality like being able to play the music you want, when you want.

The first generation model works well except that it disconnects from Bluetooth after about a minute or so, so I can't stream anything from my phone unless I want to keep reconnecting it every minute. With the second generation the problem has been fixed, but the main problem with that one is it disconnects itself from my wifi almost every night and requires me to set it up again as new each morning. Therefore I can't rely on it as an alarm or to play my morning routine. These problems have been reported to Google with no resolution. At this point I'm considering switching to an Alexa or Apple Home.

Rated 2 de 5 de A Daigle par Desapointed I got three Nest Mini and I keep reinitiating them. They create confusion with other Bluetooth devices inside the house and end up in a mess and all devices, including the Nest Minis, stopping to work. I like using them , among others, to listen to local radio which is free but does not always work and is not as easy to configurate as Sirius for which a subscription is required and clearly promoted. From time to time, one of them starts playing music at random which was never asked for or programmed in any way. It is not even possible to exclude music channels when configurating them in order to avoid this. At least one must be selected by default..
