Rated 1 de 5 de moto par It is NOT black grout I recently had my condo renovated. I asked my contractor to use black grout with the 24" black porcelain tile that I used throughout my condo. He used Mapei's black grout. Unfortunately, it is actually a light gray. It is NOT black. It is not the look that I wanted. Mapei's response to me was that I should use their black "Grout Refresh" (which is paint) to make the grout be black. It was my only option, so I spent hours masking every grout line and painting all of the grout. Now I'll have to wait and see if the paint fades, peels, or wears away, and then has to be painted again. Very disappointing! I would never buy another product of Mapei's again.

Rated 3 de 5 de Restoring Garland par More grey than black Not difficult to work with but the color washed out to more of a light grey. After researching this there may be a couple of solutions. One is to not use tap water only use their ph neutral cleaning product. That was the advice I received when I called but it’s already grey, not black. Another option is to use something to darken the grout. It looks wonderful when wet so we read where mineral oil helps. That appears to be working but not quite where we want the color at this time. It takes multiple coats. We are applying in an inconspicuous spot at this time. If it works we will mineral oil the grout everywhere.

Rated 2 de 5 de Chief par Dries Gray I wish I had read the reviews before I used this product. I was looking to replace the gray grout that was on my black & white marble countertop. I spent many hours putting the "black" grout on replacing the gray. When it dried it turned gray, almost the same color I had before. I was angry and disappointed at the same time for all the time I wasted with this product. To remedy this I went to Amazon and ordered black grout pens and then colored all of the grout lines deep black. I could have done this with the original gray grout lines. Anyway the grout pens worked, then I sealed it a few days later to preserve the black color. This product does not do what it says so I would not recommend it if you want rich black grout lines.

Rated 4 de 5 de custar par Mapei black unsanded grout This product is fine, but the instructions are not. DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CLEANING UP TILE AFTER APPLICATION! If you do, you will have exactly the problems noted in another review of of this product. I needed a very dark unsanded grout for a granite tile countertop I installed in my son's home (the tile was black granite). After reading the other reviews of this product, I wiped the tiles with a damp sponge *immediately* after I worked the grout between the tiles. Do not wait until it hazes over, and definitely avoid the grout lines as the grout will not have had enough time to skim over. This does require that you work iin small areas at a time. After I wiped the tiles with a damp cloth, my wife came behind and wiped up residue with another, drier sponge but we found a cotton cloth works better. After that, we waited until the tiles hazed over and wiped them pretty much as described in the package instructions. By removing the initial residue before it had set up (hazed over), we had no problems later.

Rated 1 de 5 de Badgerland par This is grey NOT BLACK It is only black when wet. Look at the photo I've attached. We expected a black or dark grout and this does not even come close. I wish I would have read reviews before buying this product. I don't know how they can sell something that is so "off" of the advertised color on the package. Love the tile we bought but would never use this grout. I only wish that Lowes did not suggest this product to go with their tiles

Rated 1 de 5 de noname par just like the rest NOT black I cannot believe I read reviews for everything all the time, and did NOT read these first..I already had grey grout on hand and wanted BLACK, so purchasing black, I thought it would obviously be black..mixes black, wet is the perfect black, yeah after it dries and you "wash" over the grout and it has that haze, it absorbs that haze and lightens the grout up to a much lighter grey, and the package says if this happens call Mapei, yeah, then let's see, they said scrub it w/phosphoric acid to remove this, it's just a topical discoloration, or use the grout refresh while sealing..I AM FURIOUS, all that work, and the product isn't what it should be..I put a lot of thought process into the wood look tile and the grout, the black was perfect for what I wanted, WET, was so pleased, and then after the clean up, not a happy camper..

Rated 1 de 5 de DIYtiler par Wasted Money I have used Mapei products before and have been largely pleased. However, this Black grout is NOT black. I have used grey colors that were actually darker than the way this (supposed) black came out. It is not even as dark as charcoal. I put a LOT of thought and planning into my bathroom redo. I used absolute black 12x12 tiles for the counter top and mosaic tiles with black for the back splash. The idea was to make the grout lines disappear in the counter top and make the back splash coordinate. Well there is NOTHING else in my bathroom that is grey. I couldn't be more upset and disappointed. Now I have to find a way to make the grey black. I have done this in the past and it is a very tedious procedure that I should not be confronted with when using a brand new product. Plus, it will cost me more than this product cost in the first place. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!
