I applied this to a pvc down pipe a couple years ago and it worked great. However now there is a tiny trickle of water seeping through. Can I reapply over the original application or should the old epoxy be removed? How would you remove it?

The old epoxy would need to be removed. This would need to be machined to be removed. Keep in mind this product is a temporary fix.

No this is not water soluble and once cured can be exposed to water.

Having said that, I've used it for many other projects. I slice off a piece rather than just tear it. I think I get a more even piece that way. Knead it until it's uniform in color and then proceed. I've had the same tube for years and used it again yesterday with excellent results. Most of my uses have been in wood. I did repair a metal shelf with it, not a pretty fix, but it's been fine since this stuff hardened. Since discovering this putty, I always want to have some in my tool drawer just in case.

When a truly proper fix is not feasible, or you need to buy time until a proper repair can be made, then epoxy putty can be an outstanding choice for quick, durable patch or seal. I have used pounds of the stuff from multiple manufacturers, mostly to repair failures in drains or similar low pressure piping situations. Fresh product is most important; old product (it ages on the shelf) will give too little working time or might not work at all. It is quick, convenient, relatively inexpensive and has very good adhesive properties. Resists chlorine well and does not corrode under typical weather conditions. Good product!

Rated 5 de 5 de drill sargent par Best fix for cracked valves We had several 1 and 2 inch brass ball valves on backflow preventors crack from freezing. Even tho they were drained,and taken apart enough water was behind the ball to freeze and crack them. A couple of them I applied the mixed putty straight and it worked great. The bigger cracks i gobbed it on, used a piece of pvc pipe cut length ways, covered the gob of putty with the cut pipe and used a worm grear hose clamp over the pvc, no leaks. The next year we replaced the valves before our biannual backflow inspection. It bought us a year on a commercial application and gave us time to get the parts we needed. Naturally we found the cracked valves when we were turning the water on at the beginnning of the pool use season.

Rated 5 de 5 de Caleb par Fixed Large Hole in Pool Pipe Best product I've used in a long time. I had two underground pool pipes that had been busted by a shovel when digging for something else. One was a 1.5" pipe with a large cut in it and the other was a 3/4" pipe with a large hole in one side. I was able to mold the appropriate shapes from the fix-it stick and had to apply product to one pipe while water was gushing out and apply it to the other pipe completely underwater. In both cases, the material hardened within minutes and completely sealed the hole. Saved me hundreds of dollars when compared to calling out a repair man. The seal is holding strong after a month and it feels like concrete after set so I expect it to hold for a very long time. This product is outstanding!

Fixed cracked sewer pipe, I asked a mechanic friend of mine what to use on a cracked oil pan, he said that other 2 part epoxy j ...., oil came through the next day. I had drained it but still a drip came through. I put this stuff on it and hard as steel in about half hour and put oil in vehicle.. amazing! (slow down for speed bumps son) fixed water line, exhaust pipe, bolt was rusted out of frame on a rear shock on vehicle and I built it up with this stuff and I have driven it over a year and it is solid as steel. The frame was actually rusted away and this stuff worked. I could have welded it but I just wanted to see what this stuff would do. . I am amazed, I tell people about it all the time and can't believe people don't know about this product. Awesome results for me.

Rated 5 de 5 de scovartwo par Great quality epoxy putty This epoxy is found in the plumbing section of Lowes, but it is an epoxy that can be used for almost any application. Since it is a putty, it can be mixed then applied and molded to surfaces without the running effect you would have with traditional 2 part epoxies. Mixing this epoxy could be sort of difficult for older people or just anyone with weak hands & fingers, say someone with arthritis of the hands, but mixing it in smaller batches will reduce this effect. This epoxy does start to dry up especially on the ends, so it must be kept tightly sealed in the plastic tubing, I would suggest to find an old round tall food container that is airtight, then place the whole epoxy package in the sealed container when not in use, to increase its shelf life, by removing the product from air as much as possible. Overall this is a quality product. I have mixed other brands of epoxies that resulted in a final product that did not fully harden, this never happened with this product, every batch I mixed, fully cured to the maximum hardness I would expect from a good epoxy.

I needed a QUICK fix so we could be able to use water the water,i.e. showers,laundry,etc. This product,along with a tapered plug,sealed the leak very,very quickly and has held since. The product was very easy to use and adhered to the surface immediately. I love this product! It saved me from calling in a plumber on the week-end and the price was incredibly low considering what it did for me and my family in a pinch! I spoke with friends about the product,telling them how happy I was with it,and learned from a maintenance man at work that he uses it on everything,including leaking gas tanks. He told me the repair with Fix It on my plumbing will last many,many years to come. I plan on having some on hand just because. You never know when you might need a miracle in a tube being a homeowner. I HIGHLY recommend this product!

Rated 5 de 5 de JJ par Multiple use I seem to find multiple uses for this product. The most recent was on my wooden seat bar stools. They have an angle wood support that a bolt goes through to attach the legs. It seems to crack if you tighten it to much. I took the bolt out, filled the triangular gap with epoxy putty, replaced the bolt, then packed the putty tight. The bolt is tight and doesn't back out. The fragile wooden angle has support. Done deal. This stuff will rival duct tape for multiple uses.
