Is this material fire resistant? What is the weight bearing capacity, if installed on a flat gazebo roof?

Posée par: Marauder 69
Hello Marauder 697071, thank you for your interest in Ondura panels. Ondura panels cannot be installed to a flat roof. Ondura panels must be installed on a minimum pitch of 2" per every 12" and in areas that experience snow/ ice this pitch must be at least 3" for every 12". For project specific information or more details please contact our customer service department at 1-540-898-7000 opt.2 M-F 8a-5pm EST.

Would you cut them for us

Posée par: Mike MC
I don't believe Lowes will cut them, but you can call the nearest store and ask. My husband transported them in our SUV (they're quite flexible) and then he used a hand saw to cut them to size as they were a bit larger than what we needed. They do leave an oily tar like film on the saw blade so you want to cut one panel, clean the saw and then repeat with the others you need to cut. If this product is way too large measurement wise, you can always purchase the package of roofing tiles (different brand name, but same product).

Can I use this under my deck for water runoff?

Posée par: Billyboy00
Hello Billyboy00, thank you for your interest in Ondura. Ondura panels cannot be used as an underdeck system due to the material and it's weight. Tuftex DeckDrain panels. another panel Onduline manufactuers, are perfect for this type of project and can be found at Lowe's. For project specific information or more details please contact our customer service department at 1-540-898-7000 M-F 8a-5pm EST.

Panneau ondulé est évalué 4.0 de 5 de 95.
Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Product I used this product on a 12’ X 24’ storage shed over 10 years ago. It has survived two hurricanes and several hail storms and has not leak one bit. The only force that it has not been able to withstand was a pine tree that fell on the very corner edge and that was quick and easy to repair. I used a piece of scrap that I had left over my initial installation and it was then that I noticed that fading was practical non existent. The shed is not what one would consider storm proof, it has 2X4 rafters 24” apart and I used 1x4 slats 24” apart. This stuff is like a Timex watch, takes a lickin and keeps on tickin. Great Product. I am getting ready to use it again.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Good alternative to tin I needed enough roofing to cover an 8x8 tool shed that I had built and was looking for an alternative to tin. I was afraid of the sharp edges on tin given that my shed was shorter than the typical shed. This product was very easy to cut, carry and to install. Plus, it's a very nice looking product. Since I was covering such a small area, the price difference in this product and tin did not break the bank. I used the nails recommended by Lowes and was very pleased with them as well. The asphalt and cellulose fiber were easy to nail into and so far it's held tight through a couple good rainstorms. Definitely a recommend.

Rated 5 de 5 de par So far it's great I'm surprised by some negative comments. I've used this on a bandstand in my yard and a shed for my landscaping gear. The bandstand has been up for 3 years and is good as new. It's nailed to purlins spaced 24" and there's no sagging. Easy and quick to install. I had no trouble with the nails and yes, the sheets do flex a bit so you may want to mark grid lines to keep it all square but as the instructions point out this is an advantage if your roof isn't square. Flex to fit. Both roofs I have are open underneath so I go out in the rain to look for leaks and I've never seen a single one even though the shed roof is way below the recommended pitch(less than 1/12). Thinking of using it on my mobile home roof which is also low pitch.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Fast and easy Easy product to use, works well but read the installation instructions first, I think the bad review here is because it was installed flat. It is not intended for flat or gently sloped roofs, and solid sheathing and underlayment is recommended for houses. I would hestitate to use it in any application without sheathing as it is very flexible. I used it first on a sloped veranda roof and loved it; I am now roofing a cabin with it. Fairly light and easy to use, even for a one - person operation. The price is a bit more than asphalt shingles but it is much faster.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Hard to Work With I bought this product because I was adding an extension to my shed to house my tractor and needed a simple roof to install over my joist beams. I installed it on an 85 degree day and the sheets were almost too flexible to load onto the roof (bent easily due to being more pliable). To top it off, my joists were not exactly on center, and the nailing was very difficult. You can't walk on it, so each sheet has to be nailed from the center out. the nailing is critical, because just a little off center, and the nail hole is too large and tears the sheet. I spent a lot of time caulking nail holes I was going to buy a tin roof, but thought this would be easier. I still like the concept, and we will see how it lasts.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Survived Ivan. We live less than a mile from the Gulf of Mexico. Ivan wiped out a neighboorhood 1/2 mile from our home. Ivan put two large trees onto our home and limbs punched several holes through the ondura and the shingle and plywood underlayment of our old roof. I was able to remove the trees and patch the roof with a new sheet of ondura in a few hours making our home water tight. Almost every shingle roof house in our neighborhood had their roofs blown away. Our Ondura held on tight. Great Stuff.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Not durable I bought this product and put it on my new shed. I bought the "special" nails and 7 sheets. I did this based on the reviews. I had already cut the material to the right size when I realized that it is poor roofing material. The material is not durable, the first "special nail went right through. If you plan to purchase, use the special metal screws and be VERY careful when installing. I went on being very carefull I only ended up with 8 or 9 more holes in the new shed roof. Most of the holes are at the peak.... I covered with a ridge. For the extra 10 bucks, I would use metal next time. I exptect it to last for a very short period.... Maybe one winter if the wind does not blow.

Rated 2 de 5 de par Doesn't last, be prepared to replace it in 10years At first this roofing material looks great, installs easily, no issues. But it doesn't wear well and our 10 year old roof is now crumbling in places, leaking, it's a nightmare. Forget trying to patch it, once it starts to go bad, carefully walking on it to do repairs only makes for more problems. A metal roof (material cost is almost the same) lasts a lot longer and won't get damaged by hail like this one was. Hail stones were only nickel size. Duh. Now we have the added expense of getting rid of this stuff before we can put on a metal roof. I would not have purchased this roofing material but it was already installed when we bought the house.
