Does this cabinet have exterior mirror on both sides? If so, how are they being held? Thanks

The cabinet has exterior mirrors on both sides which can optionally be put on. They are held on by glue from peel off strips. I have had no problems with any of the mirrors after more than 18 months of use.

Love my recessed mirror, but the shelf pins were thrown out in error.  I need 8 of them. Tried Hillman 5mm - tight, and 1/4 too big. What is the correct size.

Mine measure 5mm. I even tried some Lee Valley press-in soft bumpers used on cabinets. They are 5mm and go in easily. Note- I have 2 of these mirror cabinets- bought 2 years apart from Lowes and there are differences- they have changed the doors somewhat. I wonder if you have an earlier or later cabinet. The factory probably changes things once in a while.

As another customer in the past noted, does this issue still exist? We heard a loud crash,  the door to our medicine cabinet had fallen to the floor. Two sided tape was used in the construction of the cabinet, holding the mirror to a metal plate.

can this open left or right handed hinge.  It is aluminum inside and not plastic with glass shelves right?  Is it painted white aluminum on the outside? or just the silver colour on outside of cabinet

Hi Alex - yes the door can be opened left or right. Not sure if you would need a stud between them if you had two side by side. I I don’t think the sides were mirrored. We installed one and then hung a plain beveled mirror butting up beside it to cover the width of the vanity. Don’tknow About mounting them on the wall rather than recessed. Maybe someone else can answer that. Even recessed into the wall it sticks out a little so our builder had to put wood behind the plain mirror to bring it out flush with the medicine cabinet. He then installed some trim to make a frame around the mirror and medicine cabinet to hide the edges and giv it a finished look.

Can it be surface mounted?

You can mount it on the wall or cut out the dry wall and put it in the wall. I mounted, in two separate bath rooms, two of these. You need to follow the directions and it will take longer than you expect. Mounting on the surface requires finding a wall stud which will carry most of the weight at the base of the unit. The stud should be close to the center of where you want to mount the cabinet. It does not have to be the exact center.

Rated 4 de 5 de TOMinSATX par 20" Medicine Cabinet I bought this unit to install for a customer who we were remodeling her master bath to convert to walk in shower and other handicap adaptations. Pricing of this unit compared to others was very reasonable. Installation was not a problem. We were going to do a recessed mount but found there was a vent pipe in the wall so it became a surface mount. The mirrored interior and sides help with reflected light in the room as well as give it a clean and finished look. Being reversible also helped. Recessed mounting would have to be done with care, and completely flush with wall, in the past we've done some with partial recess, but that wasn't possible with this unit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always bought the Allen + Roth 20-in x 26-in Rectangle Surface/Recessed Mirrored Medicine Cabinet in the past but mistakenly ordered the Kohler. recently. You only get two shelves with the Kohler and this cabinet is tall enough for three easily; a waste of space. Also the lower mounting bracket is predrilled with the Allen and Roth and the upper brackets are better engineered and easier to use. The finish on the inside sides is also higher quality. Both cabinets are nice but the Allen and Roth is the better version. I think Kohler went for cheaper.

Mine came without instructions, and for something like this you wouldn't think you'd need them, but I couldnt make any sense out of the various parts so I had to go online and find them. This was fine, but the print was so small it was very hard to read. The clip design that holds the glass shelves in place is not the greatest. They were difficult to seat correctly. We did a surface mount - recessed mount would not have been possible due to the pipes in the bathroom walls. It looks great and matches the brushed nickle theme we have going.

Our contractor installed it for us, so I can't comment on how easy or hard it is to install. Initially, I wanted to to be set up recessed, but my contractor said that he was unable to for some reason that I forgot. So, he just mounted it on the wall, I it doesn't look bad at all. All sides have mirrors on it, so it looks very nice. I also love how there are mirrors on the inside of the cabinet door and on the inside wall of the cabinet. It appears well built. It's a very modern looking cabinet and fits well in our bathroom over our wall hanging sink. Lowe's gives this cabinet at a great price. Well worth the money.

I have had this for 4 years and the door fell off when I went to open it the other day. I had to catch it before it hit the floor. I attached picture to show what happened. I would like to see if I can get a new door.

Since it was within the 1-year, Lowes replaced the mirrored door & hinges. The new hinges appear to be all metel now

I checked to verify the hinges were made of metal prior to buying. However, I did not inspect the quality of the material of the door where the hinges are attached. Mine were encased in plastic. After a year or so, the hinges started to droop. The flimsy metal is too lightweight to properly hold the door, which is heavy. When we attempted to adjust the hinges (they are adjustable), we noticed the plastic around the hinges was cracked. At that point, the door fell off and the plastic around the hinges broke. A replacement door is $100. When I called Kohler, they told me the hinges are under warranty, but not the door and the plastic molding. They can't help potential installation issues. The cabinet looks nice, but it is a piece of junk. I should have bought a nicer one. Now I will be buying a more expensive, more durable, better built product. Don't buy this. We are skilled when it comes to home improvement.

The mirrors were covered with a blue film that left markings on the mirrors that was diffiuclt to remove. The shelf holders are plastic and difficult to maneuver. Overall, however, it looks great and is functional. Hope the plastic hinges hold up!
