Will this planer work on boards that are a full two inches thick?

Planing height Maximum 6" (152.4 mm) Minimum 1/8" (3.2 mm). Planing width Maximum 13" (325 mm) Planing depth Maximum 1/8" (3.2 mm) (for boards 6" [152 mm] wide or less). Never plane material which is shorter than 12" (304.8 mm) narrower than 3/4" (19.05 mm), or wider than 12" (304.8 mm) or thinner than 1/2" (12.7 mm).

Can it be used to plane 2x6 fencing boards ( horse paddock) that have been painted to remove paint and rotten edges.?

Folding tables ( which reduce sniping) and a spare set of blades are marketed as model #735Xcan. Busy Bee tools has that on now for $799.00. As it's technically a different model, I doubt if Lowes would price match, or include the extra bits. The tables and knives are worth a minimum of $160.00 plus taxes. At $799.00, the Busy Bee deal is unbeatable.

Rated 4 de 5 de Bob4895 par Great Product - With a Quirk Bought this 4 months ago and wish I had bought it sooner. Great surface finish achieved in soft wood and hard woods. Easy to use, reliable and the surface finish you can achieve is amazing. I re-saw hard woods and this planer helps me to achieve a common final thickness for the re-sawn wood. My only issue the rollers reaction to the cold. is Dewalt needs to add a note to the instruction manual which explains when the feed rollers get cold, they will no longer grab the boards. I recently spend hours trying to determine what was wrong - finally did a web search and found the information on cold rollers. A small hear on them for a few minutes resolved the problem.

It is powerful, precise, and has many extra features that make using it a joy. Powering through soft and hard wood alike, it produces a very smooth finished product. If you push it too hard (try to take off more than the recommended amount, according to the chart in the front) it will strain as you would expect, and a few times it tripped a circuit breaker on my home panel. If my garage circuit was 20A instead of 15A, I suspect it would have tripped the overload circuit on the unit itself. The documentation is also excellent. I am very pleased with my choice.

It is a dream machine. I see zero snipe. How smooth it made some really old barn board? Incredible. It cuts through the wood like butter. Quality product that I would recommend to anyone and everyone. Stay clear of the wood chip exhaust; it really spits those things out with some force!

I was Thinking to purchase this planer for years, finally I bought this planer couple weeks ago and got time to unboxing today. when I opened the box and removed plastic bag which covered the machine, I saw several scratches on the feeding plate and also on the cover, I further inspect the machine and realized some wood chips fell off from the machine itself. It’s quite surprised and embarrassed me, I thought that I purchased a brand new machine, but seems like someone already run the machine before I open the box. Just a bit considering if I got the refurbished or lemon machine instead of “brand new”. I like Dewalt products, but unacceptable for this packaging and unexpected for brand new products.

Rated 4 de 5 de WoodCrafter par Excellent machine, throw away the original knives I would give this a solid 5 stars but the original knives that ship with this machine are poor at best. I am working on a rustic hickory project, very hard wood with lot’s of knots. The original knives lasted only about 12 board feet cutting ~ 1/32 in each pass to remove 3/16 from the rough sawn lumber before having to turn the knives to the other side. I replaced the original knives with some carbide tipped blades (about 150.00) and have plained over 150 board feet with no noticeable dulling (yet). After a few boards I still have to wipe off the in feed rollers of the dust to keep the boards feeding correctly. For the price and performance (after the blade replacement) you just can’t get much better. DeWalt should consider making the carbide tipped blades standard.

Rated 3 de 5 de Tommy par Lack of thought I have a 735 , and it has some problems. After about 25 hrs. of use I noticed my oak strips were veering to the right- from the left side. Come to find out, the feed table plate was peeling up in the corner. I tried everything to fix the problem, eventually I peeled it off and replaced it with a laminate- problem solved and no more scratches. Inside where the cogs and chain are, debris builds up and prevents you from raising and lowering height,( I have a dust collecter), so you have to remove the cover and vacuum it out.

Most boards were 11" wide and 6+ feet long. The blades cut cleanly, evenly across the width and have not dulled a significant amount or needed to be changed. The finished cuts are clean, smooth and beautiful. It handled oak just as well as poplar which is amazing. As long as the in-feed and out-feed tables are properly adjusted there was not a snipe problem. Adjustment is quick and easy. A great value for an economy planer and I would highly recommend it.

Its not as loud as other reviews I've read say it is either. I would recommend earplugs however. I was worried about disturbing neighbors due to the noise as I work out of my garage but it's not that bad at all. I am very pleased with the performance of this planer but you must keep the rollers very clean or they skip off the wood and dont pull the piece of lumber through the machine smoothly. I do have one complaint in particular about this Dewalt DW735 planer... I had received it with the crank handle bolt bent and stripped so my height adjustment crank handle is loose and cant make quick adjustments or handle comes off.
