Can the heat line be installed inside the water line, NOT on the outside of the water line?

Posée par: lbcowan
No.

I am running two plastic pipes, one hot and one cold water, from inside my home to an out side building with on demand heat only. Can I tape the 2 pipes with the sensor cable together with the heat sensor  on one of the pipes? please advise

Posée par: Henning
No they need to be independently heat traced and insulated so the heat trace can regulate the temperature better

After I install the heat tape, can I wrap the pipes and tape with pipe foam insulation? What is the recommended kind of pipe insulation, foam or fiberglass? (to avoid the risk of fire)

Posée par: JackieSh
we found that there was no reason to wrap the pipes after installation of the heating cable,....but the should be no difference if insulation were to be used.....would recommend the foam....

what if is not straight

Posée par: josewales
- cable bends / conforms to pipe, ...attach with plastic ties.

I been doing a little research into what I can purchase to keep a outdoor 100lb propane tank warm as the cold drop the last few days are causing pressure issues and I wanna know if these would work or if there is something else recommend for that purpose?

Posée par: Austin101

I am wanting to run plastic pipe water line from my cottage to my garage above ground. The length is 75 feet. Do i just attach the heat trace to the pipe and let the pipe sit on the ground? Or does it have to be covered?

Posée par: Lake water

Package indicates the item should only be used on water pipes. I wish to use the item in 3 ft and 6 ft long aluminum 3" x 3" down spout extensions sloped on a 20 degree angle below horizontal and fed from a  GFI. Can I do so?

Posée par: Dave105

can this be used on pvc or pex pipe

Ruban chauffant automatique est évalué 4.6 de 5 de 37.
Rated 5 de 5 de par Water pipe freeze preventer Used this at my beach house in NC during some extremely cold weather this winter. Worked well at keeping some copper water pipes from freezing. Would use along with a pipe insulation to provide addition protection. The built in thermostat is a big help in reducing power usage. Only comes on when the pipes get cold. The light in the plug lets you know when it is working. Recommended

Rated 4 de 5 de par pipes freezing? I've installed 4 of these this week alone. Mainly in manufactured homes. If you have noticed reduced water pressure or frozen pipes during cold temperatures this is a must. Very easy to install and will save you a lot in unnecessary plumbing repairs. If you can't or incapable if installing this contact your local remodeler home repair guy.

Rated 4 de 5 de par If it works in Canada - it'll work anywhere! We live in Alberta, Canada and our winters can fall to below -50 degrees Celsius and colder with the windchill. Hasn't been quite that cold yet this year but our water froze up on Christmas Eve and it turned out that our original Easy Heat tape had been chewed through by some type of critter. We replaced it, and within an hour we had glorious running water again! I will say that the one issue I have with these is that the indicator light on the cord does not shut off when there is damage to the cord. We assumed the heat tape was fine because the indicator light was still on - don't rely on this! We had to manually feel the pipe under the insulation to find that it was frozen solid.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Does a good job The cable was installed around a pipe in the barn where temps got down in the teens for several nights and not above freezing for 4 days. Worked great, had no problem getting water to the donkeys. Prodoct was a little hard to install and is a bit pricy but does a good job.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Keeps the Water Flowing [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We keep our pool running all winter. We do have several winter nights below freezing, so we wrap the pump and filter plumbing with a heat cable. This purchase was a precautionary replacement for the older heat cable that was being used. So far it's performed for one stretch of 2 days below freezing with one night at 16 degrees.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Product works well for keeping outside water pipes from frzeeing. Only length available in store was 12 feet. Should have more lengths available, 3 feet would have been the correct size I needed. I was told by store they would no longer stock in store any size of this producted. Leaves residents of San Bernardino mountains in the cold where freezing temps are frequent in the winter. Lowe's should continue to stock this product in various lengths.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Ounce of prevention [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Better than spending hours under the house with a hairdryer in the freezing cold
