What is the difference between a 779 and a 780 model?

I do not own ether one of these saw presently, I am looking to purchase soon. I learned the 779 max cross cut is 14.01" in spite of the Web page description of 16". The 780 does cut 16". In the spring, Lowes was selling a miter saw for $399 claiming it could cut 16" so I assume it was a 780 but in fact was a 799 that only cuts 14.01"

What type of blade is included with the saw? How many teeth and what is the blade arbor size?

My saw came with a deWalt 32 tooth ripping blade with a 5/8" arbor. I have not used this blade as the bulk of my cutting with this saw is cutting baseboards. I put on it a deWalt 80 tooth blade.

Rated 5 de 5 de Crowder par Accurate and Repeatable I bought this saw to replace a smaller miter saw. I needed to be able to cut larger width pieces. Right out of the box the I checked the miter 0 and bevel 0 and both were dead on. No adjustments needed. I have used this for two projects so far the gave the miter, bevel , and slide a good work out swinging both left and right on both scales. I am super happy with how the projects turned out with the angles being tight and clean. I also purchased the 80 tooth Dewalt 12" blade for the fine details on the Treasure Chest. I have a dust collection system in my shop and there was very little to sweep up when I was finished. I am very pleased with every aspect of the saw.

Rated 5 de 5 de BigShaun par This Saw Is A MONSTER! Most everybody knows the purpose of a miter saw, so I'll focus on the features of this one you might not know about. This saw is packed with features, most of which are easily adjustable without any tools. The depth can be adjusted to restrict the depth of the cut by flipping down a stop and adjusting a wing nut. The slide length can be adjusted to restrict the length of the cut also with a wing nut. Combining these allows you repeat precision cuts. The Fence can also be extended on each side (again no tools required) for those longer boards. As far as the quality of the saw, its excellent. Perfectly square straight out of the box, and I haven't had to adjust it since I've owned it. I have yet to find a board it can't cut.

The torque on this thing wants to suck the blade in. I also like the double bevel option. On the negative side, and why I gave this 2 stars is the plastic on this in the operating zone. Today, while cutting some lumber, the plastic piece (maybe the rear guard) broke off. Sadly, I can't find a parts list anywhere to narrow down what part this is and what I need to ask for. Overall, not good.

Rated 5 de 5 de MaGo par The work horse in my shop This saw is a pleasure to work with. The only downside is the abundant spray of saw dust every which way. There are many options to curb this issue online, but it's amazing that Dewalt wouldn't address this and either sell their own dust trap enclosure for these types of saws or improve the design of the saw itself to be less copious in its dusting of the environment. Business opportunity missed! Still love the saw though and would definitely buy again or recommend to a friend.

Rated 4 de 5 de DTR Designs par Good but not great Overall this is a beast of saw. The power and cut capacity are outstanding. This thing will handle anything you throw at it and overall I'm quite happy with the saw. That being said there's always room for improvement. While this thing has all the power you could want it needs a soft start to reduce jumping and breaker tripping. The hold down clamp is the same bad clamp every miter saw comes with. It works but takes 5 minutes to set up so you'll never use it. Then there's the space issue. Like many sliding miter saws on the market, the DW779 has a massive footprint because of the sliding rails. Each of these issues can be worked around by the creative craftsman, but definitely should be addressed by the Dewalt team in the future.

Rated 4 de 5 de Pig1 par Dead on out of the box. Just received my saw. Prior to using it I checked it for square. It was dead-on right out of the box, I didn't have to adjust anything. Haven't used it much yet, but I did find a couple minor things I don't like. The extension arms aren't level with the main table and their isn't any adjustment. Both extensions are about 3/32 lower than the table. Also, one of the clamp mounting bolts for the extension arms had the lock nut wrenched into the bolt shoulder so I couldn't get enough thread to put the wing nut on. Lastly, it's considerably heavier than my old saw - great for rigidity but bad for transport. So far all minor issues. Overall it appears to be a great saw.

And this tool is another tool that falls into that category for me. I don't believe I over buy a tool for the projects I use it for, I just don't, simply put, expect the tool to do more things than can reasonably be expected. This miter saw has been fantastic and is ready to operate precisely the way I want it to. Again, if you buy DeWalt and take care of the tool you will receive many years of uninterrupted service out of them. One last note: This saw has been servicing me very well in my small home-woodshop since July 2019. Coming up on 3 years of awesome service.

I know that it is so important to have precise square cuts. Also there are many repetitive cuts that can be a pain with circular saw. This was so easy to get setup (also purchased the awesome rolling stand by Dewalt) what a great move that was. Absolutely recommend the rolling stand because this saw is heavy to tote around. With the extendable supports makes cutting a breeze. With the 12 in blade and sliding arm feature it would be difficult to find a board too wide to cut (not counting sheeting) Now that my shop is coming to a finish I am excited to start my half log siding and addition projects.
