What is the difference between a 779 and a 780 model?

Posée par: LakeLady44D
I do not own ether one of these saw presently, I am looking to purchase soon. I learned the 779 max cross cut is 14.01" in spite of the Web page description of 16". The 780 does cut 16". In the spring, Lowes was selling a miter saw for $399 claiming it could cut 16" so I assume it was a 780 but in fact was a 799 that only cuts 14.01"

What type of blade is included with the saw? How many teeth and what is the blade arbor size?

Posée par: Red Dodge
My saw came with a deWalt 32 tooth ripping blade with a 5/8" arbor. I have not used this blade as the bulk of my cutting with this saw is cutting baseboards. I put on it a deWalt 80 tooth blade.

Scie à onlgets combinée DEWALT coulissante 12 po moteur 15 A 3800 tr/min est évalué 4.7 de 5 de 178.
Rated 4 de 5 de par Great saw, bad dust collection Most powerful miter saw I've owned. It jumps in my hand when I pull the trigger. The dust collection is an issue I saw in my research and it is a HUGE problem. The other features and quality overcome this in my opinion and based on my use.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Great Saw I move up from a 12 year 10 compound miter saw and wow what a difference. The saw was very easy to square in both miter and cross cut. The new blade makes great cuts
Date de publication: 2022-09-16
Rated 5 de 5 de par Great versatile mitre saw I have only had my saw for a short time and am impressed so far. The mitre setting and bevel setting are simple and precise. It has loads of power, in fact you have to hold tightly onto the handle when you engage the saw because it wants to throw the blade upwards. This does cause a bit of an issue when you release the switch it wants to pull downward when the brake applies. I too noticed the blade cutting the black plastic in the throat. If you engage the depth stop this does not happen. Having pre-drilled holes in the fence makes it easy to add a zero clearance attachment. If I was to say anything negative it would be unscrewing the guard bolt to change the blade it a bit awkward and the hold down clamp cannot be swung out the way behind the fence without the rubber catching and making it easy to swing. These are just minor though.

Rated 1 de 5 de par Free Stand Canceled From Order - No Explanation I ordered this saw + stand last week and it arrived last night. The stand was not included, however, and I received an email that the free stand had been canceled. The saw is useless without a stand, and it's still being promoted as included with the item through Feb 2nd!!

Rated 4 de 5 de par solo ? nice build, not the easiest thing to pick up by your self wish they would have made a carrier or sometype of strap. if two people are there its no problem at all but solo can be somewhat not user friendly to set up.

Rated 3 de 5 de par Kicks when you pull the trigger I bought this for my daughter a year ago, but she just now set it up at her new house. I went over there to do some work for her and used the saw. First thing I noticed is the handles on the sides don't extend out to help support longer lumber like my Kobalt does. Also, and what really bothered me was when you pull the trigger the saw kicks up. I was not expecting this. At every cut, I kept having to anticipate and prepare for this kick. I suppose it's the torque of the motor causing this, but I did not like that at all. I'm glad I didn't buy this for myself and sad I bought it for her. Also, I was cutting 1x 8's and the boards kept wanting to fall forward as though there wasn't enough support under them (also because the handles/supports didn't extend further out). I was looking to get a new saw and glad used this DeWalt before I purchased one for myself. I think I'll stick with Kobalt or another brand. I have a lot of DeWalt tools, but was not impressed with this saw.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Good product Overall, this compound mite saw is very good. However, the blade it comes with could be improved. Also, at this price point, it should come with a laser guided saw line.

Rated 4 de 5 de par Better educate employees When picked up miter saw, it was sitting on its side and top of the box was crushed in. Opened the box when got to the shop with it, and visually appeared okay. Have not used it yet, so hoping it works fine. Please better educate your employees that certain products cannot just be placed willy-nilly to save space at the customer pick up location.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Miter saw What a nice saw, I owned many other brands and they were never as precise as this one. It has a tremendous cross cut, perfect for my cabinet build. Power, accuracy, easy clear view of cut line. Just a wonderful tool, well worth the money I spent.
Date de publication: 2023-02-27
Rated 3 de 5 de par Good saw but beware cheaped out blade & quality Good saw, makes accurate cuts out of the box. But is sold as a mitre saw which needs 60 or 80 tooth blade. No marking on box, they don’t tell you what you actually get is 32 tooth blade. And Lowe’s website spec sheet falsely says 80 tooth blade included. So if you actually want to use this as a mitre saw you will need to buy an additional blade. I also found a casting defect in saw base that might break in future, should have been caught by quality inspection during manufacture , disappointing as otherwise a good saw. Dewalt customer service not responsive
Date de publication: 2021-12-01
Rated 5 de 5 de par Love this saw I upgraded from a 12" dewalt compound miter. I wanted the slid to handle a little larger boards. This thing has tons of power and operates very smooth. There is a little torque when you pull the trigger and it tries to lift the blade. You get used to it, but different feel from my old compound miter. I have this mounted on my work bench, but also have the stand if I need to take it to a job site. Love this thing!

Rated 1 de 5 de par All DWS779 Come with 32T All new DWS779 will come with a 32T so you have to spend another $100 just to be able to use it for basically anything that requires fine cutting. Very disappointed when I reached out to Dewalt and they confirmed this and they no longer provide the 60T standard (I assume due to cost savings that they pass directly onto their owners). Overall seems solid but I'm unable to use it until I buy a $100 blade.
Date de publication: 2020-06-25
Rated 5 de 5 de par Perfect size for many projects The first time I used this product it was very easy to use and perfect for replacing the floor in my bathroom. I don’t have any other saw at the moment, so I was able to use the saw to cut special cut pieces. I’m glad I went with the 12” and didn’t settle for any of the smaller ones. The sliding saw is the way to go for sure.. best early Christmas gift!!!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Military discount I’m a disabled veteran and was disappointed that I couldn’t get my military discount on sale items,,I think you should be entitled to discount on anything you buy whether on sale or not.
Date de publication: 2023-12-13
Rated 2 de 5 de par overpriced for the lack of options. I perched this saw to build my outdoor kitchen. Don't get me wrong, it has plenty of power, but for the price point you would expect a laser cutting guide, which it doesn't have. In low lighting like outdoors, it's useless without work lights setup. Also it has a whole lot of kickback making it very dangerous for anyone not expecting it. All and all I wish I would've went with another brand in the same price range that offer more features for the money.
Date de publication: 2023-12-28
Rated 2 de 5 de par Scratched up Was under the impression that I was receiving a brand new miter saw. Opened up the package and it was all scratched up.
Date de publication: 2023-02-11
Rated 5 de 5 de par Works better that I imagined I bought this because my Master Craft saw was bent and would not cut straight( that way since new). I decided this was a way too good of a deal to pass up. Glad I went ahead and purchased it, doing the entry way and it is so much smoother and more solid feeling than my other saw. Make sure you purchase the 779 model, well worth the money.
Date de publication: 2018-01-26
Rated 5 de 5 de par One Year Later - Excellent Purchased the DWS779 last year during Lowes promotion. To date, the saw has performed without a problem. Quality build, great value for the money, and easy to maintain. If you plan to use it for fine trim instead of general millwork, I would recommend changing the blade to a Diablo M100, or Freud specialty sliding blade with a -5 degree angle for exceptionally clean cuts. No need to spend hundreds of dollars more for saws that come with gizmos such as lasers or shadow lights. If this is your first mitre saw purchase, take the time to read the warnings in the included manual, develop a safe operating technique and hoan your skills on this machine. I would buy this again in a heartbeat, and at this price I would definitely be running and not walking to the store.

Rated 5 de 5 de par This Saw is a Beast Dewalt never disappoints, this miter saw is top notch, well built with the end user in mind, easy to transport with the carry handle position, although a little cumbersome, like the title says, it's a beast. The cuts are clean and controls are very easy to manipulate.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Wow! Wonderful! My first experience with a Miter saw was fantastic! This this is amazing! Just starting to do some home improvements and decided to do them myself. This thing works great!

Rated 5 de 5 de par Easy to move, easy to set up with multiple angles So easy to use, and the manual is great with additional tips/guide within. I have used it to make box shelves with compound angles, and a decorative wooden Christmas tree. I just wish it had a better way of collecting the sawdust/shavings.

Rated 5 de 5 de par Worth every penny Quality saw for the money.
Date de publication: 2024-02-19
Rated 4 de 5 de par NOTE: Great components for a good quality saw. A few noticeable quirks in the first few hours of use. Slide rails must stay spotless of saw dust at all times or sliding becomes a hassle. The blade that came with the saw was not on tight. This didn't come up until into a few hours of cutting. Make sure blade is fully tight before use. The locking for the sliding is also not well designed to hold well. Maybe my own issues, but a decent saw.
Date de publication: 2018-03-23
Rated 3 de 5 de par Some improvements necessary I have been using this saw for two months now and it cuts well and accurately, but the dust collection feature is absolutely terrible. Also Dewalt makes it almost impossible to hook a shop vac up to it - even with their adapter kit. Don't underestimate the importance of dust collection. I am disappointed that a Company such as DeWalt would make this necessity so low in there design spec priorities. I will be looking for another saw.
Date de publication: 2018-10-21
Rated 5 de 5 de par She's a beaut Clark! Bought this saw a week ago and love it. Thing is a beauty. After buying a Dewalt table saw ( which is also awesome) around Christmas I decided I needed a miter saw next. Did a lot of research and landed here on the Dws779. Looked at the Dws780 at HD on promotion with a free stand but it was still to much to justify ($799! Yikes). I Ended up buying a universal stand from Mastercraft on sale for $99 and I'm pretty happy with the overall package. Although I do have a confession to make. I waited for the saw to go on sale @ lowes for $399 and then took the flyer to Homedepot and got it for $360. (They will beat competitors price by 10%) Not going to lie, did this with my table saw to. Sorry Lowes but that's the was she goes. If you want my business don't just match competitors prices, beat them! Shop smart people, keep your hard earned $ in your pocket
Date de publication: 2018-04-07
Rated 5 de 5 de par Great miter saw This miter saw is awesome. Everything flows smoothly and is fluid through cuts. 12 inch is large and should be able to tackle almost every job. Being able to store it with slide to the right is convenient but still makes for a large footprint. Seems well made and has worked flawlessly through 2 projects thus far. Dewalt is well known for quality and thia piece of equipment is no exception.
Date de publication: 2023-06-19
Rated 2 de 5 de par No stand, though priced and advertised like it Still promoted like it comes with a stand, and is currently more expensive than the upgraded dws780! I was counting on the stand. Will have to return.
