Beyond that, you will die of old age waiting for a cut to finish. 2x4 with a new blade and freshly charged battery takes over a minute. I jept looking to see if there is a speed control that I missed somewhere, but no. Simply doesn’t have the power to do the job .

Wasn't my primary focus, but I have since become enamored of this handy little gem. Power is decent, but then you're not going to grab this because it has MOAR power. You grab it because you can't get a regular saw into tight spaces to lop off some annoying bit of wood, or to cut through a whacking great nail or other piece of metal that's getting in the way. Takes regular sawz-all style blades as well as regular slide-style Hitachi / M-HPT batteries, so it's instantly interchangeable with your other hulk tools! While it might not smash! It will certainly slash with the best of them. Highly recommended!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have had pretty much all the one handed recips including the famous, brushless, red brand and this is a solid upgrade. The ergonomics are great, it's smaller and lighter with a fantastic cut speed and the ability to take jigsaw blades makes it scroll better than most true jigsaws. My favorite one handed recip.

It's amazing how much power you get from such a compact and lightweight reciprocating saw. This tool has a very comfortable grip and is easy to use one-handed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been a long time Hitachi cordless tool user and and extremely satisfied with the performance, durability and value proposition these tools offer. I am not a pro, but have taken on big remodeling projects around the home and general repairs. The Hitachi line is now rebranded as Metabo HPT. If you visit Lowes who carries Metabo you will see the entire line has been re-engineered. Metabo feels more comfortable in your hand, have better balance, many with brushless motors, and improvement over Hitachi. Plus, they now accept the new 36v multi volt system which means more power. Recently I got to try out the newly released Metabo HPT CR18DAQ4 One Handed Reciprocating Saw with the new, compact 3.0Ah 18v battery. Compared to my full sized Hitachi CR18DSL reciprocating saw mounted with the old style 3.0Ah battery, the new one-handed model is 4.3 pounds lighter. That’s 54% lighter and just as powerful! It is so nicely balanced I was cutting PVC piping all day and never got fatigued. The new tool-less blade mounting system is super easy, a nice innovation. Mounted with a tree trimming blade it was a breeze cutting down invasive vines in the woods behind my house. The light weight enabled me to easily and accurately cut the drywall to install a new electrical box, using a fine tool jigsaw blade. I had to reverse the swing of our pantry door and this saw made it easy to navigate a tight space to cut the mounting nails between the jamb and the framing for easy removal. The Metabo HPT CR18DAQ4 saw has a wide speed range and depending on what you are cutting the right speed is important and depends on the trigger pull. Therefore, one opportunity for improvement would be the ability to dial in the speed, set it once for the job and go. My old Hitachi full sized reciprocating model is certainly a beast, and has it’s place in the tool box. However, the Metabo HPT CR18DAQ4 hand held saw along with the compact battery definitely fills a void in the Metabo product line and I found it to be ideal for a variety of jobs. I think it will be getting a lot of use as my go-to reciprocating saw!

I have used it to cut electrical conduit which is easier than a hack saw and much easier to carry than a full size saws-all or porta band. It did everything I asked of it with power to spare. I have also used it on wood with the same results, works well and plenty of power. An added convenience is its ability to change the blade to a jig saw blade and make more detailed cuts. I often work alone so the ability to put this saw in by tool bucket and save an extra trip for a bigger saw is important to me. The 3 ah battery gave is more than sufficient power for my work. It would be nice to have a battery tester built into the battery to check the charge before going into a crawl space or attic. With a large upcoming remodel job I look forward to using it to cut more electrical boxes into old plaster walls and saving much time and effort. Overall it has been a great addition to my tool box and would recommend it highly.

I use this saw for demolition and finish work, cutting nail embedded wood, copper piping, aluminum edging, plywood flooring, lumber, steel and finish carpentry for cabinets. I even performed cutting speed tests versus my other saws and was pleasantly surprised. This is absolutely my go-to saw for all future work and I can recommend it with confidence.
