How do I start the S1024? Brand new. Has gas and oil.

What I did was pulled with the switch off about 5 times to lubricant the engine. Then primed it 3 times. I found it very easy to pull start but you can also use the electric start. Works great.

Haven’t needed parts other than sheer pins. Any small engine/lawn mower repair shop can do repairs.

The assembler should have provided you with these pins inside a plastic back expecting you to assemble it yourself. This is what I have: missing two pins in the assembly. Thank you lowes who expects customers to finish their missing parts products.

I’ve only used it once so far, but it handled the snow plow piles pretty good. That is actually the main reason why I upgraded from my older single-stage machine. The old machine cleared snow off the driveway and sidewalks fine, but it could not handle the big piles.

Assembly was simple following the directions. Two challenges;  the location holes for the auger and motion cables were not defined well.  But the statement that the unit was previously assembled and adjusted gave me the clue that one was wrong.  The other was again it was not obvious where the bolts for the handles go. Three of four holes. Leave the fourth for the chute crank.

Just picked up this snowblower and when I press the auger level, a loud grinding noise can be heard as gears engage. The noise can only be heard for a second as it engages but it is loud and concerning. Does this sound normal?

Everything is belt driven, there are not auger gears. Mechanical noises are quite normal.

Yes it will. “Pro” tip. Because I wasn’t a pro. It may have to be laid in its side to fit in the vehicle and WILL lest oil of left on its side for long. Right side up if you can.

Rated 4 de 5 de Mike par Good for the price [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The chute throw wing nut that holds the angle you want to move the snow stripped the first few times of adjustment. The heavier the snow, the faster it changes and has to be hand adjusted often. The carb tends to get gunky fast and the blower will start to idle surge. The belt drive that engages the auger slips and will have have to be adjusted. Those are the cons. Pros. Price and power. If its in your budget and you know your way around a motor its fine. its not a lot of work to maintain but Someone who doesnt will be buying a new one after a few years. Spend more money or call a plow.

Rated 3 de 5 de CanadianTundra par Terrible Assembly Instructions but Seems Durable I know I’m not the best mechanically inclined person but, wow, the setup and assembly instructions were by far the worst I’ve ever seen w.r.t. other items I’ve assembled. Ended up not being able to set the blower rotation rod due to the bolt on the handle not coming off. I assumed this was the only way to fit it?? With terrible instructions I still did manage to get it done with help from YouTube. Blower seems pretty solid, started on first pull but have yet to start it with the electric starter nor have I had a chance to use it in deep snow. This is Alberta so I’m sure I will get that chance soon.

Rated 1 de 5 de Jones525 par Would not buy again I bought this snowblower last winter , it runs ok , it’s not great in wet heavy snow has a hard time, the metal chute is really cheap and thin , the bolt for tightening the chute adjustment just spins and will not tighten , I called customer service, I have to bring it to a warranty repair center to have this chute looked at , I live in Sudbury and the closest one is Owen Sound (400km) will not send anything. So keep that in mind if you buy this, if you don’t live near their repair centre might as well not even have warranty.

I followed the assembly instructions in the manual, (certainly not the worst I have seen, I thought they were pretty comprehensive...), filled the engine with the supplied oil, (nice surprise) and plugged in the included power cord (another nice surprise). Filled it with fresh stabilized fuel, and it started immediately! I am still trying to start my old machine, still can’t, so this electric start will be a nice feature. Only four stars since I can’t comment on longevity. A winter in Edmonton will test its mettle!

The electric start is a real bonus as it starts easily even in low temps. I enjoyed using it as it handled fairly deep snowfalls(10 to 12 inches) no problem. It certainly had enough power to handle the job. My only complaint is that the headlight doesn't work. I highly recommend this unit..

Unit starts easily and comes with oil and electrical cable which is a nice bonus. The real downside to this is the chute control arm. It’s a screw drive mounted real low and is super cheap. It costs a the company a few bucks more for a decent chute control on the main panel but they do this on purpose to push you to buy the model up which has the same 208cc engine and a light. For the price it’s difficult to complain, but at regular price I wouldn’t even think about buying it!

Filled in the oil with the supplied oil. I use 93 octane gasoline. Turned on the key, closed the choke, Throttle half way, pushed the gas primer twice, pushed the start button. It starts in a second...... SWEEEEET .... now we just have to wait for the snow to fall ... that's depressing ... lol.

It does have some power to it and can throw snow about 15 to 20 feet, but my shear pins broke on the auger and the snow blower did not come with a parts manual to order the exact part to fix it. I tried looking on briggs and stratton's website, but they only have the operator's manual. Furthermore, their website does not contain snow blower parts for my model that I just bought 1 month ago. Also tried calling to buy the part directly from Briggs and Stratton, but they recommend that you contact a local dealer. I tried to locate a local dealer via Briggs and Stratton's automated calling feature, but that was not working at the time. Briggs and Stratton has horrible customer service and I do not think that I will buy another product from them.
